After 5 games we should have either the best, or second best defense in the entire league. I fully expect this to continue if we don't make major personnel changes. No other team can compare with Embiid, Simmons, Green, Matisse, Dwight, etc.

I honestly think we can continue being one of the defensive teams even without Ben. Harden is no slouch on defense.
Whats missing now is offense.

Ehi guys, if we don't trade for Harden until summer, are you going to post in every thread the liturgy "need Harden, Ben can't shot" over and over for the next months?

He started 0-6 and went 10-18 from there. He also carried his team with 17 points in tje last quarter and beat the kings by himself in tje last 4 minutes. As for the 1-2 you know last night was the first time he had a full squad.

This team just looks really well built and looks like it has a ton of chemistry right now. I know....crazy to say.

Would you trade Ben for Doncic?

5 games in, we're #1 in DRTG, #24 in ORTG, and #7 in NETRTG...take that FWIW.
2023-2024 Philadelphia 76ers:
Lowry/Melton/Payne
Maxey/Hield/Downtin

Typically championship teams have a top 10 defense and a top 10 offense. if we can't improve our offense, then it makes sense to me to trade for Harden. Yes the defense will take a hit, but should still remain top 10 with Embiid manning the middle.

I think we'd maybe hover around #10 if we traded Ben. That being said, he's playing like THE best defender in the league atm (and was for portions of last season too).
Tough call. I'm prepared to be disappointed either way

Agreed... Do we want the best defender in the league or the best scorer in the league. What is more important in the playoffs. What can we make up?

Enough about Harden. There is a dedicated thread to discuss him.

No because we’ll need him to trade for Harden ...Harden >Doncic>Simmons

Pretty good so far. I expect the ORTG to rise as guys get acclimated and shooting reverts to the mean.
If Embiid had played in Cleveland we'd probably be top 3 in NETRTG.
Good start that IMO makes it less likely we pull the trigger on a Harden trade.
Now let's see where we're at after 10, 15, and 20 games.

That's because that's the biggest question / issue hovering over the team as the season starts. I agree dedicated Harden talk should go in its own thread. The tagline/subtitle for this thread will change over time!
