What would Ben have to do in Game 6 to be forgiven?

Score 30+? Make over 10 FTs? Hit a 3 or two?
All of the above?
What is the minimum he’d need to do in game 6 to be forgiven? Or has that ship already sailed for you?

Probably score 6-7 points more than usual with the same amount of other counting stats.

Show up in a win….and then keep doing that.
If we win tomorrow and he plays his normal meh to **** game it does nothing. He has to be the catalyst and build off that. This could be his last game in a sixers uniform so we will see.
I have no faith…. In anything right now… but him especially

I don’t think Ben can be salvaged here. He is not a scorer and will never be a scorer. He needs to go to a team where he can play the Draymond role.

Make freethrows, play defense, score on transition and get others involve.

Nothing in game 6. If he helps lead them to a finals and is productive in doing so.

If the plan is for Simmons to stay around the perimeter and screen he won't get more than 10 points.

to be honest he's just been in the dunkers spot all series. No idea how many picks he's set, but i'll take the under

He needs to start making elbow jumpers, taking 1 or 2 x three pointers and hitting a jumper with 4 minutes to go in the game and the game in the balance to show he can be the man.
That is literally the only thing that would show that a light has finally gone off and that he might live up to his potential that he could be the 2nd best player on this team and win you a championship.
Of course we all know that the likelihood of even one of those things happening is remote.. never mind all 3 of them... so the answer is there is absolutely nothing he can do in Game 6 to win back the fans. The 76ers need a star that can get the ball and score in crunch time when Embiid is double teamed... and Simmons ain't that man. Sad thing is he is not just a bad fit for this team... but any team he plays on that has championship aspirations and wants him to be in their 2 best players.

He spends plenty of time there as well. The point being apart from 2 games ago Doc doesn't run plays for him.
Simmons has to posting up on the smaller hawks. Its criminal he isnt and I'm not blaming Doc for that.

Ben is going to be out of the league in five years bookmark that. It’s disappointing but all the signs were there

Don't hide behind other players so that they miss shots instead of you, look, you are already heavily criticized, if you suddenly go 4-20 it won't be any worse, at least you've tried unlike what you've been doing since now.
So yeah, what he needs to do is attack, attack and keep attacking the rim.
And of course, make your **** FTs, at least 60% for now, is that too much to ask?

I'm not mad at Ben. He just has to go. Thank him for his services over the past few years, but he just isn't what we're looking for.

Spot on.
Ben can’t undo that game. Even if the Sixers win it all Bens fate is sealed.

Simmons is done. When he hasn't improved any facet of his game in five years, nothing is going to "suddenly" happen. He obviously doesn't work on his craft in the offseason. In fact he's regressed in some areas.
So to be "forgiven" he can do nothing, because I'm interpreting "forgiven" to mean that he's suddenly become the player he was envisioned to become and has elevated his game to that level in general, and that has zero chance of happening because that requires years of offseason work that he obviously hasn't put in.
The better question is, what does he have to do to NOT be blameworthy for another loss, because that entails only his performance in this one game. Making free throws would be a start. He could very well lose another game in that way.

Play how he played in the second half of Game 3. Why does he just forget that he's able to do that?

Nothing he can do. We’ve seen him flash like a star 1 every 20 games. That’s his trend and it’s not enough.

Because he doesn't have the self-image of a scorer. He doesn't experience himself in that way.
So you can perhaps get him to do something out of the ordinary for him if you exhort him to do it, but that doesn't change his self-image as a non-scorer. Doing something in just one half of one game doesn't change someone's self-image.

It's insane. You'd think it would give him the confidence and desire to play like that nightly. But you're right, it's not going to just click in his fourth season midway through the second round of the Playoffs. He had a monstrous game versus Brooklyn in the 2019 first round and slowly disappeared again. It's really bizarre.
I don't think Simmons could do anything to be forgiven in my book. I would need to see an entire season plus a postseason of changed play. The 1 in every 20 games as quoted above by ProcessDoctor is not enough and never will be enough. It's fool's gold.

Right, and then the question becomes whether he
wants to play that way nightly, and now you're back to the concerns that were present for him coming out of college, regarding love for the game, will to win, passion, etc. I think those concerns have now been verified.
This is why his trade value has now plummeted, because it's become evident to the NBA that those concerns are real. And on top of that he's actively losing playoff games with missed free throws of all things.
I wouldn't trade for him if I was any NBA team in the league. I'd rather he be on the team I was
facing in the playoffs, so I could have a greater chance of beating them.
You go ahead and keep him, and I hope to see you in the playoffs.
