Danny Green back has this team looking really strong.

Upgrade Howard. Upgrade Scott. Expected improvements from young players.

Even if we stand pat, we're going to be a top 4 seed.

The only shoe to drop is if a star in his 20s asks out and his team accepts Ben Simmons as a return.

Well, this take didn’t age well.

Re-signing Danny puts them back over the tax line. They are also up to 18 counting Bassey and Petrusev.

They still have a trade or two left to go I think. They are slightly better than last year, but still worlds away until they get a perimeter initiator/creator.

Dame is nearing washed status based off his play in Japan

#TeamKobble

Unlike with the overly protective Blazers, Dame can't just shoot 13 threes a game so people still think he's a superstar. So in the Team USA environment where there are other mouths to feed, he's exposed as a guy who simply can't attack the rim anymore because he's small and old. Couldn't even dribble penetrate against Nigeria. Was getting stymied at the 3 point line.

International game and NBA are 2 different games.
Giannis isn't as impressive either in international games.

I expect Bassey in G-League and Petrusev is a stash which I thought brings them to 15. And Tolliver can be waived by today as well I believe. Am I missing a player?

Embiid/Drummond/Reed
Harris/Niang/Tolliver
Green/Thybulle/Korkmaz
Curry/Milton/Joe
Simmons/Maxey/Springer

I feel like a trade still might happen, but I don't see any reason they need to right now except to address the Simmons situation which it seems like they might be kicking the can down the road.

Finally some good news. Green is way more important to this team than most realize

(Puts "Worst Option" takes back in the holster)

Welcome back to THE FIRST Option. So I guess we are waiting out a star guard or praying Maxey actually turns into Donovan Mitchell. cool.

Kobble doesn't think Giannis is all that either....so not the best comp there lol

So who gets cut? We have 17 roster guys and 2 two-way players. Who doesn't make the final 15 man playoff roster?

We also still have the TPE, unless we work a sign and trade for Niang going into the TPE to save (I think) the MLE, right?

Tolliver can be waived, but I'd rather include his salary in a deal with Milton and one of the young bigs to get another vet upgrade at PG.

Tolliver will be waived and Petrusev probably doesn't sign until next year.

S&T for Niang would hard cap us, so that gives you less flexibility.

As for the roster spots, Petrusev stays over seas and they probably ditch one of the 2 way guys and give their spot to Bassey.

Brandon Ingram.

I actually don’t rate the Korkmaz or Green resign. I get it but surely the overall $$$ of Niang, Korkmaz and Green together can actually get you a player. But alas we are a bad/overpay FA destination. I’d rather have Hart over Green.

Morey has to be working on an angle here.

Right. Now of those players, who are possibly available apart from Lillard?

Another way is you surround Biid with 3-4 18-20ppg perimeter scorers. Which is basically our 2018-2019 squad was. It’s something I’d explore if we fail to land Dame this offseason.

A sample 5 man unit:
Kemba
Derozan
Tobias
Ben
Biid

Also possible

Rozier
Malik Beasley
Tobias
ben
biid

I dont think Kemba and derozan would cost you a lot. Just a handful of picks and young players

That’s not the answer to his original question

Most draft people say that Springer should be playable on defense day 1. Don't know why he wouldnt play.

How many minutes are left behind Simmons/Replacement, Curry, Shake, Maxey, and Joe?

I'm sure he'll play garbage time, but unless someone really struggles, there's probably not much time left.

To clarify-- after the Green signing are we now limited to vet minimum deals?

We are 1.2-1.3 millions below the tax line.

But, we also have the entire MLE, BAE and the Horford exception, we can use only of those this season tho. The Horford exception expires next month.

To sign one additonal player we would need to waive or trade someone.

To clarify, we're just under the tax line right now after the Green signing (and Tolliver being waived)?

Makes sense and what I expected from the jump. The Green + Kork contracts came in low enough for them to duck the tax.

They will definitely NOT add any more payroll to go over the tax now.
