Age plays very little role compared to other factors like length, skillset and etc. in evaluating a young player

Im not selecting Brandon Miller over Springer mainly or mostly because he’s 2 months younger than Springer

Yeah I don’t get the he’s 20 years old argument. Now a days, you know if a kid is the real deal by age 20 or not. This isn’t the 90s and 2000s where you didn’t play until you were 24 lol.
always a jump shot away.

the 20 year old thing plays better if he was showing growth

it was a meme with Tatum but the idea was that he was doing cool **** as a 19 year old and was getting better.

Springer is the same guy he was at UT...

Probably true for the elite superstars, but certainly not for valuable role players. People have different career trajectories, and our current roster situation/coach decisions doesn't really allow for player development. Isaiah Joe is actually playing great basketball in the NBA right now. Hard to argue that he's a different player than the one he was when he was burried on our bench.

You're assuming that evidence of growth in NBA players (especially ones playing few minutes) is gradual rather than punctuated when I don't think that's necessarily true. I think the truth is that improvement in players occurs before it translates to game situations and then presents itself suddenly. I don't know how you'd prove or disprove that theory, but it feels correct to me.

Honestly, it's hard for me to make a determination on Springer because he simply has not even gotten a chance.

Player development is just so unique and varies for each person. His G-League shooting numbers are showing improvement this year which is enough for me to maintain hope. All he needs is to become a league average shooter and he’ll be an awesome role player because of his defense.

Worry not, he will be traded to a western conference team before he gets any chance and there he will be getting 20 mpg.

He needs to be given a chance to prove us wrong and be the next Royce O’Neal when he’s fully developed his shot 8 years from now at his peak

Talent out there is abundant.
No team is investing time on a role player.

If he turns out to be as good as Royce O’Neal and ur proven wrong, then just go get someone better with a late first.

8 years from now, Springer will be as good as Royce O’Neal and it will all makes sense

Trust the process

Glad to see he’s doing well and not scratching for 2-5 minutes a game with us. Don’t see much opportunity for him with Shake, Maxey, and Harden taking up all the minutes.

Can't see much improvement in a man-child that beat up on high school kids because he was bigger than them, and hasn't done much since.

Korkmaz is averaging 10.5 minutes per game this season...

It might be time to give him a small role as a lockdown defender on opposing PGs. I know Doc won’t give him a chance this year, but hopefully that’ll start to change next year.

That's who I've always seen with Springer. A shorter Jimmy Butler. It took Butler a few years to really get going in the league too. Hopefully we remain patient with Springer. He'll get his opportunity.
