Keep Maxey and Thybulle at all costs!

Post#1 » by Dnt hate » Sat Aug 21, 2021 6:24 pm

I think these 2 are going to be stars, (not to mention fan favorites), we shouldn't trade them because we want to get rid of Simmons, I love Lillard and have always wanted to pair him with Embiid, but he's getting old and I don't want to give away our young up and comers.

I'd rather trade Simmons for a Hield, Barnes picks package then upgrading Simmons but trading Maxey and Thybulle. What do you guys think?

I think you try to win a championship at all costs.

Sixers got swept by Celtics without simmons in 2020 playoffs. This despite winning 3 out of 4 regular season games against Celtics.

Simmons does matter a lot. People want to throw him away for lesser players. How perimeter defense goes down to crap when he’s not there. Sad to say but Simmons and Embiid compliment each other on defense.

It’s the offense during playoffs that’s the problem with Simmons and Embiid.

Folks have convinced themselves Maxey is a better player than Simmons based on an ok rookie season + 2 SL games.

Thybulle is definitely expendable, IMO. He's a MLE level player, at BEST.

If you can sell high on Thybulle I probably would. But I value Maxey as more than a sweetener in trade.

It's not like Hield is young himself. Hield is 2.5 years younger than Lillard (and we've already been misinformed about Hield's age once - he could be even older). They're not even in the same stratosphere as players. Trading Simmons for Hield/Barnes + picks seems like a pretty big blunder.

Are maxey thybulle the next Landry shamet. Meaning middle late first round picks. Solid contributions but easily traded.

Shamet has been traded to clippers nets and now to the Suns. I’ve haven’t seen a young player who gets 22-25 minutes a game on WINNING teams get traded this much so young in his career. It’s very odd.

Maxey and Thybulle are contributing players on a contending team. They are in no way "star" players in my opinion. Maxey has the potential to be very good and maybe even a one time all star, but neither are untouchable in my opinion. If OKC called us right now and said "hey, will give you Shai Gilgeous for Thybulle and Maxey, we'd be fools not to take it.

If we can also flip Tobias for McCollum I think we'd have a better team than now

McCollum Maxey
Hield. Curry
Green. Thybulle
Barnes. Reed
Embiid. Drummond

Well, I am using SGA as an example. I personally don't want to trade Maxey or Thybulle either, but all I am saying is everyone has a price. I'd rather keep what we have and just keep growing.

One can’t shoot and can’t score and would be the worst offensive player in a starting unit, and one isn’t a PG/Playmaker and the jury is still out if he can shoot... so Sexton without a 3ball essentially ... why?

Getting enamored with limited players from Okafor to Ben

Is how you end up in this mess in the first place. Same with Springer

Always go BPA or go Best Player available always.

Basketball is pretty far from a team game and recycling of talent being so young is quick and fast.

Look where the Hawks/Suns are 2 seasons now they are well in front of us with further separation to come.

Neither of them are untouchable. But There both better than this. This is insulting to both of them.

Under what evidence?

3+D players get paid more than Thybulle always heck even potential 3+D that can actually score more than 3 points a game.

He’s a defensive wizard but that’s it atm. Roberson had to play next Durant just to make it work. We’ll never have a Durant

The other is a second year rookie without the 3 ball and not a PG so his archetype is of lower value than a full packaged guard.

They “may” be better or may not. But on production MLE is where it stands.

Thybulle, off the bench, in his 2nd year, totaled 105 steals and 71 blocks. He picked more pockets than teammate and Defensive Player of the Year runner-up Ben Simmons, and blocked more shots than all-world rim protector Joel Embiid. Antetokounmpo totaled 72 steals and 73 blocks last season.

He’s a generational talent with potential still untapped. He isn't getting traded anywhere.

The next step in Maxey’s evolution potentially is the pull up 3 and stutter dribble pull up 3’s that would add so much to his game because of how great is handle is. Also fake shoot one dribble step back off a pass when the defender closes out (may happen less and less on overcommitting once there’s a read on Maxey as he likes to attack close outs on drives).

He’s more of a slasher/midrange/floater operator atm on score creating so if the intel becomes consistent than opposing teams will have an easier cover imo.

Should watch a lot of Beal and Harden type to me as his handle is already well advanced. He has great work ethic so adding more strings to his bow should be skill intensive and not so much workloaded.

He's a defensive specialist with potential to be an elite 3 &D.

I didn't say anything about Maxey...

I was being generous calling Thybulle a MLE player. He's not even that, in actuality. He's a defensive player that offers no dribbling, no passing, no shooting. He scores less than 5 ppg for his career. He's actually a VET MINIMUM talent right now. Hopefully he can develop into a volume shooter from deep and THEN he'll be a MLE level player.
