Should the Sixers be looking to move Seth Curry to create room for young players?

There's no doubt that Seth Curry has provided good value to the Sixers. Excellent floor spacer. Heady vet that doesn't make too many boneheaded plays.

But ultimately, at age 31, he is not a longterm piece for the Sixers. Would the Sixers be better served divvying up his nearly 30 mpg to young guys like Maxey, Joe, and Springer?

No. Play to win.

No. I do think that we should be looking to trade him for a long term upgrade at SG or SF though. His value is at its highest and we should sell high.

Yea, I mean, if we can rip someone off based on the play of his last playoffs. He got hot and was leaned on because we didn't have a 3rd star willing to put points on the board for us.

I'd need to see what the haul would be for him. I'd do something like Seth Curry for Kyle Anderson if the idea is to eventually trade Ben. We'd have a way less athletic, self-aware Ben Simmons in Kyle Anderson.

Yes if we get a scoring guard in return for Ben.

Why? Look at the depth chart.

But other than that, no.

Makes sense. But trading him for the purpose of playing the young guys more? No. That's something you do if you are rebuilding. That's not us. Selling high is fine, but he's on a great contact, too, so he really is valuable. It's hard for his trade value to exceed his actual value

I agree with this.

A guy they likely have to move regardless is Shake Milton.

JJ/Curry and CJ for that matter is actually our most important cog in our offensive setup.

Our best release valve bar none. Without them it’s extremely shoddy.

I wouldn't be against bringing back JJ if we traded Curry and found ourselves in a situation with an open roster spot. He's a complete liability on defense and old as **** now, but he's boys with Joel and they are incredibly comfortable running a two man offense.

If Ben is traded for a shotcreator, we'd at least have a backup offensive option that we're comfortable with in JJ and Embiid.

In short NO. But....if we trade Ben for a scoring guard, then I think Curry possibly becomes odd man out.

Curry is playing well and on a team friendly contract

We have far more pressing issues than Seth

I think with Joel here in MVP from, we have to keep some win-now players. Springer and Joe likely can’t provide close to the offensive firepower as Seth right now, and Jo will need the help. I think Maxey will get minutes from a void left by a Ben trade.

No.

Need to sort out the YSBS situation first and go from there.

Curry has a premium skill on a solid contract, no need to fix what isn’t broken without good reason.

For instance, maybe Jerryd Bayless isn't a bust if he doesn't get buried during his development years behind low talent, vet journeyman Steve Blake. If I recall, ya'll had a young Patti Mills buried on the bench at the same time, as well.

I’d prefer Seth to any of those guys.

Blake was a better fit with Roy than either Mills or Bayless and he was nothing special himself.

I know he underperformed a lot last season (especially towards the end), but I'd be fine rolling with Shake in the Curry role next year as his game is more dynamic. Maxey, Shake, Green/Thybulle, Harris, and Embiid interests me. Maxey and Shake both have distribution traits which might actually work in lieu of a legitimate distributing PG.

What can you get for him if the objective is to clear rotation minutes? A heavily protected FRP? Not so sure he has much value in trade except in a consolidation trade for a higher salary win now player.

It’s not just Seth is a win-now player.

It’s because we’ve seen how a guy like Seth or Jj can play bigger than what they are on our team. These type of guy can play like the second best team on our team.

Biid is not a pick and roll player, but he makes up for it for DHO. Then Biid is an elite defensive player that he can make up on defense with a defensive liability like Seth or JJ.
