Ben has more trade threads than career threes.

If the Wolves are so desperate to get Simmons and Edwards is untouchable I would try to get 3 unprotected FRPs and 2/3 swaps along with Beasley and Prince and pull Joel a 1996-97 David Robinson, tank a year (I don’t us beating Nets or Lakers anyway) and see what we can do with all the assets in 2022 summer.
All least is going to be fun rooting for all our young players up their value.

As tempting as this sounds they would NEVER do this. No one knows how many years Jo has, Tobias is getting paid the max, they have a bunch of win now vets on the roster, and their coach is doc rivers. Not to mention the owners and the hinkie history. Don’t let that statement make you think I disagree with you, but just that there’s no way I see them considering that

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 6
2010 redraft, I’d probably still take ET. He has the skillset you need for today’s guard, someone who can run score on iso and PnR, he has the size to also defend and play multiple position. He needs to work on his 3s but his FT% tells me he has a chance to improve on it.
He kind of reminds me of Ben’s situation. I think Ben and ET would have different career paths if they were on different teams. Like if ET started his career with the Wiz, the Wiz may not start his career by putting him in the corner to spot up and shoot. Think Rondo’s career. He was at the right place and at the right time to play alongside Celtics big 3, where you dont need him to shoot and score but he can just focus on what he is good at which is his all around game and getting everyone the ball.
You can say the same thing with Embiid. Let’s say in the 2003 draft, the Pistons selects Embiid instead of Darko. I’d assume Embiid would be asked to just play a defensive anchor role and would never be focused on developing his scoring skills.
Aside from that, like Rzz posted, sounds like we passing up on DMC was justified by a solid reason rather than we just flipped the coin to see who we will pick between DMC and ET. And looking at what transpires, Doug was right DMC was really a headcase.
What went wrong was not cutting short early. I think we already are having doubts on ET in his rookie year back then. We wonder why his role was reduced to him just being a spot up shooter in the corner. Just as Ben, we should have cut our losses by then.
I dont think ET was necessarily a bad player, just as Kobble said, guys who knows the game like Kobe or Larry Bird sounds high on him. I just think that external luck was not favoring him and its much worse when he can’t even help himself by not being able to develop his jumper

Get picks from Wolves. Then ship some of those assets to get KPJ.
KPJ gives you a cheap version of Edwards then you get the Wolves picks as a hedge if KPJ acts up.
You also can maximize Tobias Harris’ leadership in guiding KPJ to the right path. $40M well spent.

If we make it to part 10, can we rename this Ben Simmons Retirement Thread?

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 6
I read how an NBA exec said Sixers shouldnt cave in with what Ben is doing.
Im thinking on Klutch’s POV, this may have a negative impact for them. In the future, with everything equal, teams maybe hesitant to acquire a Klutch sports player. And its not like players are begging to be managed by them.

Zach LaVine signed for them a couple of weeks ago

I dont consider “in the future” as “a couple of weeks ago”
And I dont consider “maybe” as a term to describe certainty, but rather a possibility.
In the future, maybe we’ll win a championship with Ben Simmons playing for us and being the league’s MVP.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 6
I am really curious about what it would take for Presti to part ways with SGA. All the Minny assets to OKC, Ben to Minny, and SGA to us would be so satisfying after all of this.
Maxey/Curry/Milton
SGA/Korkmaz/Springer
Green/Thybulle/Joe
Harris/Niang/Reed
Embiid/Drummond/Bassey
Not better than Milwaukee, Brooklyn, or LAL but maybe in 1-2 years?

Part 10 will be about 15 games into the season at the current rate.
Ben will probably be back collecting his cheques before then or by miracle Traded.

I think OKC is in the process of landing the plane. I don’t really see a reason to move on from SGA since he’s a wildly efficient oversized ball handling star.

I don't see that happening. Presti is in the middle of a rebuild. Swapping SGA for Simmons really doesn't do anything for him.
Now if it was part of a three way trade maybe if we took the future assets (young players + picks) we got from Simmons and flipped them for SGA but that 3way trades of that magnitude almost never happen.

Re: Ben Simmons Trade Thread Part 6
It sounds like he's either getting *terrible* advice or is really going straight-up nuts.
Philly.com says he just listed his house in/at "The Residences at The Ritz Carlton Philadelphia" - I confess, I didn't know what that is, it looks pretty sweet. And he wants a lot more money than what he paid a few years ago. It also says "Sources say he is considering selling his other house in Moorestown" and he would want nearly double what he paid.
I am a little weird- my Dad grew up *never living in anything but a brand new place* ... His parents bought and/or built new houses when he was growing up... when he went to college, they had just opened brand new dorms. When he got his job out of college, he got a brand-new apartment. When he got married to my Mom, they built a house. From the on, he either built or bought a brand new place. Weird, I guess that's not something that's all that common in life. I say this because I guess it rubbed off on me ... if I hit the $100+ million big time lottery, I would not be the type of person who wants to star-hump ... "Oh I'm buying Bon Jovi or Bruce Springsteen's house and some movie-star's beach house!" - I'd build my own. But I can see how and why people do want to buy a celebrities place. No problem there.... people buy other people's houses etc. all the time. BUT... I just don't see too many rich people in Philly wanting to help Ben Simmons out by paying him big bucks over market prices so he can be like "I TOLD you I'm never playing for you again, LOOK, I sold my houses!!!"
I like to try to analyze stuff as academically and dispassionately as possible... I would sure be fascinated to get a fly-on-the-wall account of everything Simmons, Lebron, Paul, etc. are saying back and forth. They only have so much Earth they can scorch ... and I just have a feeling he's not going to be happy where he ends up... I guess if it was SAC, he would be able to make the argument it's "close enough" to his Kardashians in LA. But I don't think he's going to enjoy freezing his expensive accoutrements off in Minnesota or how crazy that Cleveland nightlife and culture can be! or even San Antonio ... (Although I suspect Popovich would baby him and do anything for him.)
