Thank god he's gone. If these clowns are serious about competing they'll get Bud or Nurse.

You guys all know how I feel about it, and now that it finally happened it's as much disgust that this past season was wasted with him as anything else. But thank goodness he's out of here, and now we can actually bring in a real coach from this century and focus on improving this team.

Sucks for our cheap ownership. They're on the hook for $16M to Glenn!

Doc is the Tobias Harris of coaches:

Good enough to get a young team with talent to exceed expectations and make the playoffs; bad when surrounded with elite veteran talent and the expectations are high.

Tobias Harris is extremely overated and overpaid. Comparing him to Doc is disrespectful. Doc is a champion and a overall very good coach /winner. Tobias can't even sniff a all-star nodd nor average 20 a game ...

Doc had four top 10 guys at their position of the 2000s all on the same team for 5 years and only one once, a playoffs where he went to game 7 twice in the first two rounds: against the 8th seed Hawks and against LeBron and his D League cast.

I'm sorry, but the Celtics won despite Doc Rivers. He's had ridiculously talented teams since and has been underwhelming at best.

He withdrew his name?
Not saying he would have gotten the job... But considering how much they're paying Frank Vogel I'm certain that has something to do with it. In this current climate even Frank's resume deserves more than 6 million a year. Doc has been getting 8+since the clippers days

When has Rivers ever taken one of the many talent laden teams he has been blessed to coach farther than they were supposed to go?

And then ask the number of times he has underachieved with excellent teams and blown series leads? The answers, respectively, are none and too many to count.

He underachieved winning only one championship with a loaded Boston team featuring three (!) HOF players and a killer bench, and getting to only two finals at a time where the East was a joke.

Calling him the Tobias of coaches is actually kind, because Tobias didn't spend his career folding in big spots.

Sixers were projected 6th seed the year they became the 1 seed. Meaning they were supposed to technically be a first round exit. We're in the mix for 1 seed when Ben Simmons quit and there were questions if they would be a 8th seed or should tank for a pick.

Just sayin

But I agree, it would've been nice for him to get them over the hump of the 2nd round with 1 of the 3 rooms, even turn Joel's missing 2 games each year from the left 2 seasons

I was referring to going further in the playoffs, which is really all that matters - should have been more clear. Rivers has always been a good regular season coach, thus his "Top 15 all time" status.

The Doc to Phoenix rumors were always puzzling to me because of CP3. You’d think he would’ve been politicking hard to avoid a reunion.

You have to think that Paul is on is way out the door if PHX can find a deal. Rumors of their interest was only puzzling to me because of .... well, Glenn himself. At what point does the league view him as a dinosaur who the game passed by eons ago, and who is the master of doing less with more?

I see Doc eventually ending up coaching a team like the Orlando, Hornets, Minnesota,Wizards,Houston, Brooklyn, even the Spurs, if Pop ever decides to retire. He is a good coach to get your team ready to make a run to the playoffs. Just not good enough if you want to make a deep playoff run constantly.
The Accession of Paul Reed is upon us !

You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

Just can't wait to see what the narrative will be for Nick after a couple of years.

Players matter and it's rare to see a coach effectively change a players narrative when they are seen as playoff minimalist to put it nicely.

Yes Doc got Kawhi in the bubble, but also got George who comes with choking with expectations. Sure he would rather have had an SGA
