Around The League: 2021-2022 Season 1.0

I have to create this thread because I dont want to post OT on other threads and ATL has been one of my favorite threads in this board.

So Embiid got covid. What’s next?

Do we put the guys into a bubble? Because you can be tested positive anytime, even if you’re vaccinated. Even if you already got covid and recovered. And the only way to not getting positive result from tests is to put all the guys into a bubble. Not just our team, but everyone.

How about in the playoffs? Do you risk Embiid testing positive in a game 7 of the finals by not putting the guys in a bubble.

Personally im frustrated with all these.. because we’ve done everything as a society. And we know how well our team is playing right now and i just dont want us to ruin the chemistry.

If vaccination is not for zero covid while vaccination gives you almost 100% protection against covid given vaccine efficacy and condition of players (age and health), then why are we doing tests and stopping players from playing when they test positive without any symptoms?!

I hate the 2019-2020 bubble season, which is the most asterisk season ever. And 10-20 years from now, we’ll look back at the 2020-2021 season as one of those shortened season where it can also be again considered (subjectively) as an asterisk season.

I'm a little bummed by this. Embiid just had his best game of the season after a sore knee, The team is on a run and seem to be clicking chemistry wise, we were already down multiple players due to injury , mental unwellness and covid.
I'm not sure what the league does going forward tbh.

The whole thing is hilarious. We have guys on the benches wearing rectangle-shaped masks that don't even enclose the mouth and nose. As if wearing a legitimate mask even helps if a player who takes the court just takes it off anyway.

I don't think the players should be in a bubble again. I know a lot of people would say "but they're paid millions of dollars, they can go to Disney for 6-8 months and stop whining!". Imagine the emotional toll of not being able to spend time with your family, kids, loved ones, when they barely are able to during the season with frequent travel to begin with. During COVID I was really able to take a step back from my attachment to sports. I still am a big Sixers fan, but I don't get nearly as emotional. It's whatever. I have no solutions, just ranting lol.

Minnesota sucks so badly. They were up 16 in the 4th in Memphis, and still lost in OT for their 5th straight loss, while Pelicans lost for the 8th straight time.

Anthony Edwards and Brandon Ingram is why I’m talking about these two teams.

Unpopular opinion. But KAT has to demand a trade to Philly or Nuggets for him to play with Jokic or Biid. He should not see himself as a center but a PF like Siakam or Giannis. If not Jokic or Biid, then someone like Al Horford or Vucevic.

Until he or the team sees himself in a different light, they’d just go around in circles.

And the best coach for him is Bud. Bud is great for these type of players who can be a match-up nightmare if put in the right position similar to what he has done with Milsap and Giannis.

Cavs.

They run their team like the Spanish national team with heavy double high offense. Then they have Rubio and Love off the bench, both were teammates during the Wolves days. Among the winning teams who plays a big frontcourt.

They have a winning record.

Hornets.

Their style of play suits the current trend of the NBA. They have 4 guys who can pass, score and shoot with Lonzo, Rozier, Hayward and Bridges. And they’re not ball dominant. Then they have Bouknight off the bench, just so he can come in and replace if one is having an offnight or injured.

Then they go light on the C position where they can just slot 2-3 centers on their roster depending on the match-up

Hornets main problem is that they go light on the C position. Basketball isn’t reinventing the wheel still need defense with interior presence. Teams are putting up 115+ against them without much hassle. They are worst than the Pels atm. The setup ain’t working at all

76ciology completely disagree that it suits the NBA.

Just change the flavor of centers but still go light on C with heavy on the talent at the other 4 positions.

For instance, they’d be much better if say they just signed Drummond or D12 for the minimum.

Love Jokic. Morris thought he could do his typical cheap shot stuff on him and found out Jokic is made out of cement.

MPJ out "indefinitely" with the back issue. We're all seeing why he fell as far as he did in the draft. Will likely be a constant issue for his entire career, unfortunately.

I mean, his family's history points to this being the beginning of the end. I hope not but it ain't looking great.

Are you referencing Jontay’s injury history?

Both of his sisters had to medically retire from sports too. I think the other 3 siblings were all cumulative lower body injuries so hopefully this is different. However, that family is god tier talented but just not sturdy.

If we shop Drummond around. I think we’d be surprise at the value we can get for him.

Hornets would overpay to get him.

Even if you have to add a little something, that trade would be amazing.
