Maxey and Embiid?

Post#1 » by rzzzzz » Sat Nov 13, 2021 8:41 pm

More and more, Maxey looks like a keeper, right? I mean its getting harder to imagine the trade where we wouldn’t be hard put giving him up. So with no disrespect toward Seth or Matisse or any of our good players, but Embiid is our one untouchable and Maxey may be playing himself somewhere close to that territory. So, theoretically, you want to give a great center a really good point guard who is a threat to score. In reality, have we really seen that much chemistry between the two of them? Is that innate? Can Maxey’s development encourage a useful cooperation? Can our coaches deploy and scheme increasingly more production between the two? I’m really curious about what things look like with Embiid coming back with at least his knees rested and hopefully recuperated and Maxey still a ways to grow, but looking more confidant all the time.

Maxey needs to become a more willing shooter and a better distributor before he's a symmetrical fit.

A player who can create own shot in half court on a rookie contract is highly valuable especially when pair with embiid. It’s hard to fake double team embiid with Maxey threat to penetrate in half court and Seth and niang waiting at the 3 point line.

Let's see, Embiid has helped JJ and Curry both have career years an explode in their efficiency. Neither of them can actually drive or move quickly. He also fit extremely well with Jimmy who could hit the midrange. I'm pretty sure Embiid and Maxey will figure it out. Embiid just needs to stick his screens better like he did for JJ and Jimmy.

Maxey's developing at a promising rate. Early shooting percentages aren't sustainable, but you have to be encouraged by his growth and willingness to let it fly.

His perpetual attack mode penetration and ability to consistently finish around the rim will pair well with Embiid. Never afraid of the moment, capable of getting to the line/converting his free throws, and carrying an impressive assist to turnover ratio early on.

He should be considered a long nuclear term piece. Ideally, he'd be an elite 3rd option.

I think they're pretty sustainable if he keeps the same approach. He's basically shooting a ton of layups, which he's incredible at, and mostly-open threes. If we want him to do more (and we probably do?), then his %s will likely go down.

Maxey & Embiid? No.

Maxey, Embiid, Seth, Tobi, Milton, Niang, Drummond, Thybulle, the player we get in exchange for Ben? Yes.

Maxey is Tony Parker. He’s not Kobe.

He’s a good player but not good enough to be a dynamic duo, which isnt necessarily a bad thing.

When im referring players to another players, it’s rarely about comparing accolades. More on style of play and level of talent.

He's got the dribble penetration part (that made Parker so special) down, but as of now, he's lacking other dimensions.

The half court blow by ability is by far the most difficult skill to have for a lead guard. His off dribble shooting is already showing improvement in willingness and degree of difficulty. I don't think he's yet comfortable in CnS but that will come. His lack of playmaking and court vision means he's not likely to ever be a top 30 player in the league but he could be Sexton-like. He's got a nine figure contract coming to him on his next deal.

The crown jewel of the Klutch portfolio.

His number of three point shots is way too low right now. But I think there's a high probability that he will shoot a lot more at some point in his career. His FT% during high school, college and his first 80 NBA games are really terrific, he has touch around the rim and the balls to miss shots.

I mean it would be great if he shot more 3s, and I imagine he will at some point, but as it stands right now he's been an incredibly effective offensive player and the team is as efficient on offense with him on the court as any team in the league.

I think if we continue to develop Tyrese and don’t trade him along with Ben, he will be a terrific fit with Joel. Somebody said he will likely never be a top 30 player and I couldn’t disagree more. This kid will average 25+ppg with 5-7apg in his prime. By next season he should be a 20ppg+ scorer with a 4 to 1 assist to turnover ratio. If there was a NCAA tournament in 2020 he would have been a lottery pick. He and Joel will be a perfect match no doubt about it. Tyrese has the work ethic to be a multi time all star. He is also developing much faster than I expected. He has double his production across the board. Even doubling his 3pt volume.

Several times all star and Finals MVP Tony Parker?

Like if that's Maxey ceiling we're set once we get some return for Ben and Clean a bit of our cap space.

Comparing him to Parker is too much right now.

I would put Maxey close to untouchable. Especially cause he's young and might continue developing into a stud guard. I also think Thybulle is in that category. As much as we miss Joel this week, the lack of Matisse's defense has been apparent. We need a defensive game changer and Matisse might be the best in the game.

Parker is best case scenario for him, he wasnt a superstar but still a very good player. Top 10 PG for a decade.

In the case Maxey can be something similar to Parker, if we want to compete for championships, we still have to get our Manu Ginobili in the Ben trade. Thats a top 5-10 guard or wing player, who can shoot, defend, create off the dribble for himself and others and attack the rim.

Also we need solid rotation players, but i think we already have keepers in Curry (Steve Kerr/Patty Mills?), Thybulle (Bowen?), Drummond (Malik Rose?) and Danny Green.

He’s that, but he keeps developing on both ends of the court and becomes more intrinsic to the team’s success than Sweet Lou.
