Benedict departs? Part XI Trade Thread - Let this be the end!

Post#1 » by eyeatoma » Thu Feb 3, 2022 11:39 am

Just to make things interesting I'm adding a poll as well.

Most recent rumors have us tied to Beal, Ben getting fined again, and complaining about Doc not visiting him enough over the summer, and Ben bitching about Jo even though he had one of the greatest playoff +- in the Raptors series.

Kings might still be an option, but I'm not sure if it would be Hali centric or Fox centric.

I trust Morey, but I feel like we can get something good now, and then further capitalize in the summer.

He's staying, but he's not playing.

I think they pull the trigger. There are as many questions (different questions) around a Harden acquisition as there are around the Kings package options, DLo, Collins or Beal. Don’t waste a solid season.

Beal is the only way I see this getting done before the deadline. Otherwise, he’s staying.

I'm just going to assume someone from the Sixers is already on their way to personally talk to Beal and his agent about extending here.

I just want to say that I am very impressed about the Benedict Simmons label and am extremely disappointed we didn't hang this nickname on him last freaking year. Also PO'd I didn't figure it out myself.

Long time lurker

Decided to start posting

Make it stop. I’m tired of my daily google searches to see where Ben might be going on a particular day.

Beal would be fantastic. I’m going to hope for that and to finally put this insanity behind us.

Maybe we can get Andrew Toney to choke Ben into his senses as well.

I don't believe a deal will get done, but if it does it will be Beal. SAC, POR, and MIN are dead for different reasons, ATL is now playing better and will ride for this season with what they have. I'm not sure SA was ever really a thing. Unless an 11th hour club emerges, it will be Beal or bust, and I'm just glad Morey is refusing to add Thybulle and especially Maxey.

If there is no trade, Simmons would be very wise to start a PR process of working his way back on the court here, which would greatly enhance his chances of being traded next summer. But he has proved to be so incredibly tone deaf and delusional that I can't see it happening

I don't see anyway Ben could even show his face on the court without denouncing everything that happened and putting it all on Klutch...which also has its downsides.

Also don't even think it is the best for the team morale wise. **** would be awkward as **** even if guys say all the right things.

Very true. How do you explain to guys who have worked their asses off all season and carved out roles for themselves that the guy who has been partying around the world is now in the rotation? That's not even accounting for the on-court adjustments that disgruntled players will have to make. As they say, a recipe for disaster.

It's Beal or nothing as far as deadline goes.

Add a poll. Do you think we get to a part 30? BS is probably not getting traded till the summer. Its February now. This thread might appear on the New York Times list. It will be Longer than War and Peace. All this for a tragically flawed basketball player that could have been so much more.

Once he gets traded we have to start another thread on his performance for his new team right?
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

If Ben were to return, he’d need to stop acting like a teenager and have some real no BS convos with the team to have any hopes of reconciliation. It’s just not gonna happen because Ben is never going to change and obviously has no one in his corner giving him good advice.

Agree that it seems like Beal or nothing before the deadline. I think that’s the last best chance or Morey would need to return to a team like SAC with a more reasonable offer.

I don't think he'll be traded, but I'm hoping there is a chance.

I wouldn't mind seeing Simmons to Wizards, Beal to Celtics and Brown to 76ers.

Has anyone considered saying “I’m really, really sorry” to Ben?

I think if we can get Beal for Ben it´s a good return. Beal may be overrated as main scorer but i think he would thrive here as our second scorer after Embiid. Harden is better, but i think he already lost a step and may start deteriorating rapidly.
