My guess:
Morey has 2 legit trades (or 1 three team) lined up and is willing to sacrifice this season by dumping assets with Simmons and Tobias to clear the cap space required to sign Harden.
He has a deadline with those teams involved set for tomorrow at, let's say, 1pm. He will absolutely pull the trigger on the Harris piece if he doesn't get a Harden deal done by 1pm. Then, he'll put the full court press on the Nets and say "get value now, or we are signing Harden in the offseason and you get nothing".
If they still say no, he flips the Ben deal before 3pm and the Sixers hope Embiid is enough to push them into the ECF and make a run at it.
It's a gamble, but he also knows the current version of the Sixers with Tobias doesn't win a title anyways, so he needs to acquire that perimeter star to pair with Embiid. Freeing up a max spot accomplishes that either way somehow, and gets out of 2 bad contracts. So therefore, it's worth the risk.
