Buyout Thread (potential needs)

Post#1 » by Sixercise » Sat Feb 12, 2022 1:11 pm

Even with embers of the big trade still glowing, the buyout market imo is gonna be quite key to acquire a decent backup big man and some Shake Milton insurance (a scoring wing). Personally, I'm hoping for Mike Muscala to be available, but his recent injury kinda gives me pause....so hopefully we can go hard after RoLo or Thompson for a backup big. For a backup wing, maybe Satoransky or Bembry should be someone to go after? Hopefully there are more realistic candidates out there....

Thompson, Bembry, Lopez, Lamb would all be fine (and realistic) candidates.

TJ Warren would be a great pickup. I am wondering since he is injured and the pacers didn't move him if he just gets bought out

Bembry I don't really see it. We could have had him for free in the trade if we wanted and didn't take him

Dennis Schroder would be a great pickup he sort of fills two needs a having a guard with a bit of playmaking and the size to sort of move Korkmaz down the depth chart

Try to get Dragic, if that doesn't work try with Lamb or Bembry.

Muscala looks like a great option for a big next to Harden and i would try to see if Thompson still has something in the tank

You guys keep mentioning Bembry but if we had any interest we would have just taken him in the trade. We aren't signing him

Ahh Lamb - dunno if the Kings are willing to part with him, but that's a good mention

Didn't OKC say they are not going to buy-out Muscala tho?

If we're isolating in on traits, I suppose Bazemore would be interesting. He'll always been a good defender and can be okay as a low-volume spacer.

They are generally notorious for not buying people out. They bought Rivers out last year but I think it was just because it was one of the conditions for the trade.

Anyway they are well below the floor, and you have to pay any money below the floor to the players on your roster anyway, so there's basically no incentive to buy him out other than goodwill.

My guess is they'll go after a center, and if they strike out there they will probably sign either Charlie Brown Jr. to a full contract or some other guy at the margin to a deal that has a nonguaranteed option for next year so they have a potential salary filler in a trade in the offseason like they did with Tolliver.

Don't Jim and Tristan have baggage about both dating the same Kardashian?

Dragic for depth if he doesn’t go to Mavs. Obviously biggest need is center. I think the challenge with adding Harden is going to be pace. He is a slower paced table setter and that fits with Embiid especially as playoffs progress and things naturally slow down. Dragic is more effective in a faster pace system. Maxey can do both. I think we might need a smaller ball type backup center that can run to balance it for bench duties. People will be happy to see Basseys game blossom with Harden, that’s going to be something to watch. He’s a perfect PNR partner for lobs with the floor spread using wing shooters. Embiid is the perfect bounce pass partner with him on rolls since he’s deadly shooting near the paint.

Bembry is the traditional 'Philly Special' - any player with ties to Philadelphia seems to be a good option for some people. He would bring nothing to the table that Delaware can't already provide.

I think they can get the backup big, but not sure any wings of value will shake free - Lamb would be nice as a singular shooter, but may Joe is already as valuable?? We shall see - Enes, Lopez, Thompson are the players I could envision landing here. One nice thing is LAL sucks so I don't think that will be as popular an option as prior years.

It'd be pretty funny if they signed Bembry after making the Nets cut him and pay the tax on his salary.

The other nice thing is vets are going to want to join Harden and Embiid rather than risk the Kyrie situation. Got both conferences covered

Feeling like Center is their top priority.

Feel like between Maxey/Shake/Harden/Thybulle/Green and even situationally Korkmaz that they enough options for 1-3 unless a great option becomes available.

For Center, I'm not sure if anyone can hang past Embiid (Millsap/Bassey/Reed).

Not sure Bemby would even be the best St. Joe Hawk on the roster. Cru-Fella was doing some thangz down in the G-League.

Return to Philadelphia 76ers
