I'm just glad I don't have to hear about losing Andre Drummond anymore. Or was it really about losing a backup to Embiid? Ah narratives are fun!

DeAndre isn’t the player he is used to be. But he can still be productive in limited minutes such as the ex-laker bigs that have been back-up to our team like D12 and Drum.
DeAndre is more like D12 than Drum. He is frustrating on defense and I’d expect a lot of miscommunications on defense. But Doc and Harden have both played him before and he’s the best option out there.
Lastly, if DeAndre fails, atleast we still have Bassely on the sidelines.

Good luck not Millsap

Good luck DAJ.
Sadly, it brings an end to the Willie Cauley-Stein era. I'll always look back fondly at that time and remember we went undefeated with him. Those are big shoes for DAJ to fill.

It's 12-15 minutes a night. If he can do anything on the defensive boards and block a shot here and there it will have been worth it. Doc wasn't playing Bassey and Millsap is not an answer.
Some will remember the last three games as the beginning of the Harden Era, but I'd like to believe that WCS provided much of the inspiration in his brief but memorable tour.

It's highly unlikely but hopefully he can find it in him to play 8-10 minutes a game and not be absolutely awful. He better move his ass on defense or James will make sure he finds the bench again just like in Brooklyn.

Truly the end of an era.

My hope is that he can be Dwight from last year without as many dumb fouls. Rebound like a mad man, block a shot here or there, and catch a few lobs. That should be enough to keep the team afloat while Embiid sits.

You watch Drummond last night? Man his stock is going to fall back down to earth again unless he proves he can hang with frontline starting centers.
Bam destroyed him all night

Truth be told, DAJ's playoff numbers, especially defensively look really strong. But.. the last time we've seen him on the court in the post season was 5 years ago in LA. He was on the Nets last season but was benched all throughout the playoffs in favor of Blake Griffin.
Even guys like Reggie Perry and Alize Johnson saw the floor in garbage time, but DAJ never left the bench. And apparently it was purely for tactical reasons. Nash didn't trust him out there. Fans of the teams he's previously been on have said he's one of the worst players they've seen in recent memory.
I don't have high hopes and I think we could get more contributions out of our in house options with more upside, but I also am not going to let the 10th man off the bench kill my Harden high. If he's playing mediocre defense and swallowing boards it's already a step up from Mr. Paul Millsap.

Nash hasn’t demonstrated any coaching acumen since he was hired.

His benching of DJ was the best coaching move he has made to date.

Is 6'7 40 y.o Millsap a better back up option than DJ?

Because he's just a backup, and he hasn't played yet. There's nothing to post about.

Wow, if it’s his best coaching move, that’s really saying something. Thanks!

Are you serious theres always something to post about. For example during cleveland postgame , Harden was asked about Deandre and he said "system is pretty easy, he should go out there, rebound the ball,
communicate defensively, and will do a good job of getting him the basketball for some
easy dunks(he kind of giggled at the we will do a good job of getting him easy dunks part and it almost came off like he was sneering).
If you read between the lines and also the last time were teammates Hardens probly not the biggest fan of Deandre but knows his size is needed. Hardens kind of laying down the rule of how its going to go. If Deandre comes in and does his job , follow the system, rebound and communicate than he might get a few lobs on offense to keep him content.
Deandre should be happy to get out of the sinking ship. He reunites with Doc and is coming to a clicking team , where guys like and actually want to be around eachother. All he has to do is play hard and do his job , rebound and contest some shots at the rim those few mins he plays.

At this point, I'll be happy if he simply rebounds because this team desperately needs it.
