Doc, what more do Springer and Bassey gotta do?

The young guys are excelling. Yeah, its only G-league, but other teams are adding G league players to their bench to beef up for the playoffs. Meanwhile, our bench is toast. Either way past their time, or regardless of early flashes, just don’t got it.

It's just Glenn being Glenn.
The time to give these guys any serious run was a month or two ago, or in the case of Bassey as soon as Drummond was traded. Glenn has made it pretty clear that he has the group he wants to move forward with, come hell or high water.
The big fear is the complete lack of any room for error - if anyone in the rotation goes down for an extended period, there's nowhere to turn but to guys like Kork and Shake who have seemingly gone over the cliff.

I don’t think Doc will be coaching this team next year. Keep in mind Morey did not hire him.

Doc had Maxey buried behind a cooked George Hill and wouldn't even commit to learning his name until this past summer when he entered year two. Rookies stand no chance under PhD Rivers.

Exactly. I hear Rivers defenders using Maxey as an example of him playing kids, and my response has been that if Simmons hadn't held out Maxey would still be fighting for bench minutes. If Rivers remains as coach, I have to seriously downgrade any title hopes regardless of moves Morey might make this summer.

Springer has had games in the g league in the last week where he's scored 2 and 8 points
One suggestion would be to not do that

Hence the second best thing that Ben Simmons ever did for us. The first being allowing us to bring in Harden of course.

Yeah. Springer hasn’t really dominated the g-league. Shake and Paul Reed were g-league standouts and they aren’t contributing much to the big team. If Doc isn’t going to play Springer, then keep him where he will actually play.
Bassey on the other hand, I would like to see get some playing time and see how he does.

At this point, I think Springer is too important to waste away on the bench. Let him continue to play 28 mpg in the G-League for a year or two and drill it into his head to develop shooting range. He's the complete package as soon as the jumper materializes.

If he’s going to enter the 2022 draft where will you draft him?
He’d still be 19 on draft night.
Dyson Daniels(younger) and Marjon Beauchamp (older) are around the same age with him and are not better than him in the GLeague. Both are projected at 13-15th range.

Lotto, for sure.
Of all the defensive-oriented underclassmen, he's the most offensively competent if you look at his college 3p%, FT%, and assist percentage.

10-13 range? Tyty Washington range right?

Top 10.
Freshman I would take over him:
Jabari Smith
Chet Holmgren
A.J. Griffin
Malaki Branham
Caleb Houston
Not sure I'd take any sophomore over him. Ivey can't shoot or defend. Johnny Davis can't shoot or defend. Maybe Mathurin because he's a 6'7" shooter.

Doc sucks. He cost us Ben Simmons. And seeing how mentally fragile Ben is, I don't want him on this team anyways. But we could have traded him without gutting our depth and giving away two first round picks. Say what you want about the picks being late picks but we have been drafting pretty solid with those later picks

The correlation between bench points per minute and win percentage in the NBA, team-by-team in 2021-2022, is -0.15.
Bench scoring accounts for a minuscule 2% of the variance in win percentage in the league, and in the direction opposite of expected -- the more a team's bench scores per minute, the less it wins.
Now, with that said, what kind of difference in winning do you figure G League/NBA bench players -- 11th and 12th players on an NBA roster -- would make for any team?
For a team like the Rockets for example, changes in that part of the team would be the equivalent of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. For a team like the Suns by contrast, it would make little to no difference in their stellar performance.
Likewise for the Sixers such a change would make little if any difference.
This team needs to get James Harden functioning like a player who consistently takes games over in the clutch. That's where your biggest difference in team performance lies. Having some 11th or 12th player on the roster come to the rescue is nothing more than a fantasy.
