ECSF Gm 3: Heat (2-0) at 76ers (0-2) | Fri 5/6 7PM ESPN (EST)

Probably haven't created a game thread since the 2012 playoff "run" so let's see how this goes.

Reported optimism existed last weekend that Embiid could return from an orbital fracture and concussion as soon as Game 3 of the Sixers’ Eastern Conference semifinal against the top-seeded Miami Heat. But Rivers did not have an update on Embiid’s status Thursday, saying the big man still had “hurdles” to clear in concussion protocol and in general facial healing before Friday’s game.

The coach added Embiid was scheduled for more evaluation later Thursday and Friday morning, and the Sixers listed him as out for Game 3 on their official injury report released Thursday evening. But that can still be altered in the hours leading up to tipoff.

I don’t expect him to play. Need to find a way to win without him.

Just declare him out, and if the Sixers somehow win games 3 and 4, maybe reevaluate. Otherwise, shut him down.

Watching this series, you kind of get the sense that Maxey and Herro are eyeing each other as perennial playoff foes, going forward. Both already look like the best player for their team in this series. It's like Iverson vs. Ray Allen.

Realgm article said we were already down 3-0. So there is that. No Embiid no win. But I'll still watch, because I have been wrong before.

In no series is this more acutely demonstrated than in the Miami-Philadelphia series. With their identity already in some degree of flux following the trade for James Harden, not having Joel Embiid available completely obviated nearly everything the team has done schematically all season. As one point of illustration, no team in the league posted up as often, with 8.4 percent of chances coming directly from post-ups. In Game 1 against Miami, the 76ers didn’t have a single post chance, followed by a single such possession in Game 2.

Now put some shades on him and point him in the direction of the heat basket.

I'm worried by this...

Guys is playing with a ligament torn, just out of a concussion and will have troubles with light. Looks like a recipe for disaster

Still you have to give it to his commitment

Glad that female commentator ( forget her name) isn’t calling the game once/if Embiid takes court. I’m sure she’d give him some cringe-worthy moniker.

If I were the Sixers I’d sit him. Gotta protect him from himself at some point. The concussion sounded bad and his face is still broken lol. The long-term implications for his healthy just feel too precarious to risk anything.

If he plays tonight and we win, Philadelphia is going to be the most hostile place on Earth this Sunday evening. Win tonight, and you have 20,000 people foaming at the mouth Sunday evening. Let's make it a best of three.

Embiid is crazy to play with 3 significant injuries. But that’s also why I love that big guy.
