Whoa, does Utah really value Gobert this much? I don't really get that kind of valuation. He's like Tobias to me.

i mean on one hand...he has been a big part of why they have been good over the last few years. He covers for a lot of ****

on the other hand..he has been a big part of why they have gone out sad over the last few years too lol.

I think they need to get a haul for whoever they trade because they can't build around the remaining guy alone IMO.

I'd run it back one more year and see if a new voice pushes them over the top before blowing it up. But if both dudes hate each other...that may not fly.

It probably doesn’t help that Danny Ainge is running the team now and is hesitant to trade unless it’s lopsided.

I’d trade Donovan if I were them just because it seems like his days there are number no matter what. He’s 25, wants to be the face of adidas, and doesn’t wanna live in Utah.

Sounds like Ayton is done in Phoenix, where should he go? I’d love to see him end up in Detroit to combine with Cade & Bey.

I have a strong feeling that the Raps are going to make a push for one of the big men who are reportedly available as a means to slow down Embiid.

That’s an interesting one. They definitely have the talent to land someone. OG seems like the most commonly discussed trade chip and I could see an OG for Ayton trade. I think Phoenix loses in that deal but they’ve really destroyed their relationships with Ayton so now it’s mostly damage control.

Probably positions them to better matchup with the Clippers, who I think are the sleeping giants of the league if they can stay healthy.

Move McCollum to make room for... a slightly different, younger iteration of McCollum?

Regular season
Gobert > Tobias

Playoffs last 3 seasons
Tobias > Gobert

Contract
Will you pay Gobert $46M by 2026 at age 33?

My “Gobert will ruin Jazz franchise” post at GB is aging like fine wine.

You never overpay (monetary or asset) for a center.

Jokic is MVP.

But Doncic can be traded for Jokic and Jokic can’t be traded for Doncic.

Center has a discounted value.

neither guy can win as the main/only engine of a team IMO.

Denver has looked the best with Murray going super saiyan. Dallas looked the best when Brunson and Dinwddie were making shots and plays. None of those guys are consistant enough to atm to be relied on to always do that. So Luka and Jokic will put up numbers and look awesome and lose series.

its not about position at all. I think Gobert is super overrated but Utah also surrounded him with the woat POA defenders possible, which allowed team to expose Gobert in space with ease. This idea that your best player is going to be perfect and just carry your team no matter what is silly. Steph is an all timer. Him just being on the court scares the **** out of teams. BUT while he has gotten stronger and smarter, he is hidden big time on defense as even if you do target him, GS has the athletes and IQ to recover after helping him out.. Giannis last year, had Middleton going MJ mode so when games got close he didn't have to rely on bull rushing...didn't have him this year. Basketball is a TEAM sport. You will always have a weakness but the best teams make it so exploiting said weakness consistently is really hard. Bron is in the GOAT category. Only has rings due to Wade, Bosh, Ray Allen, and Kyrie. When he was alone, even though he got close, he couldn't solo teams...and to expect anyone else to even get close is just setting yourself up for pain.

Not really a perfect fit in this thread but I had no idea Harris and company were trying to buy the Broncos.

I wanted to post this on the gb but I'm banned, the whole league gets away with moving screens but the Warriors get away with it on every single play it's crazy. They are moving or pushing every time and even multiple time in one possession

That game 1 loss is really going to sting for golden state. Not sure if they can win a game in Boston.

Really stings to watch the Celtics be unremarkable yet march their way here just playing really good fundamental ball.

Ben Simmons wont be able to play on both Celts and Warriors.

Celts needs robert williams, while warriors needs Draymond green. On defense, robert williams and draymond green has more impact than Ben Simmons.

My point? If you are a guard who can’t shoot, there’s almost 0 role for you in the game when the stakes are high.

In my opinion, We are at a stage where we went from “bigs are obsolete” to “guards who can’t shoot are obsolete”

Bigs now have a role. Warriors and Celts are both lengthy and have a good depth of bigs.

Warriors play with Green and Looney (both non shooters)
Celts play with Al and Robert Greene

My other point, we should adjust and dont make it hard by not following the trend.

Illegal screens for warriors and push offs for the celtics.

Both of these teams blow, honestly. Unless you have low standards.

Celts and warriors shows us that if you are building a team, focus on 1-2-3 positions. Then go money ball on 4-5.

And if you are forced to draft a promising 4-5, trade immediately for a 1-2-3 then stay on course.

Why?

Because the defense in the playoffs is a musical chairs of switch and rotate. The best offense is off ball offense (where defense has to scramble complicatedly) and generating 4v5 situations fronting the basket (where defense has to cover more distance in scrambling back on defense than attacking from the paint area), and the best offensive players who can do that is from 1-2-3 positions.

While its very easy to get talented 4-5, we even get our own with Reed-Bassey. Which is playable if we have Mavs 1-2-3 of Brunson, Dinwiddie and Doncic.

We got Drummond and D12 for just minimum contracts, there’s no need to max out Ayton. Suns has shown this by showing the league that they can be good even with McGee or Biyombo at C. There’s really no need to let Ayton play a big part or to ovepay Ayton.

And if you have a 4-5 who think they can be a GOAT scorer, what happens to your defense? It’s close to impossible to anchor the defense and anchor the offense. An athletes durability and endurance is limited.

Doesn't say much about us then.
