I actually think he has similarities to SGA at least offensively. His game is getting into the paint and has an array of moves to get off shots while creating contact. In college, he was one of the best FTr guards of the class. His vision is better than someone like Maxey and he's probably similarily good at finishing at the rim. He's certainly not as fast. Like SGA, coming into the league, his 3pt shooting was largely a mystery. His form gave concerns. Unlike SGA, he hasn't figured out how to shoot from deep. His form is still a bit busted and lacks consistency.
I can't really speak to his defense because he plays G League ball. He was mediocre to below average while at Vandy and I gave him a bit of a pass since he was the entire offense on a dreadful team. Seems like he's generating steals though, which is nice.
All that to say, he has the skills, length, and athleticism to be an NBA player, but his shooting simply stinks. If that can ever been average, then he'll be a regular contributor in this league.

Poor man's Dennis Smith Jr.
Not really sure why we made this move. Doc will never put this kid in an NBA game. Why bail on a 19 year that was balling out of his mind?

I understand the Saben Lee signing, but I dont understand waiving Foster Jr.
6’9” forwards like one of those Raps players are pretty valuable in today’s NBA. While there’s a huge surplus in guards and bigs.
I was hoping we try to accumulate a lot more 6’9” raps type players, all you need is to install the siakam offensive package (attack hard right, spin to left when denied; push off; euro step) and they’re good to go

I hate this move lol. I just don’t understand why we’d waive Foster unless we have a plan for him.

Probably waiving good players so we end up being the worst team in the league and get wembayama. Except that we dont have our picks and our 2 second rounders died for Harden’s sin

Not defending it, but my guess is need. Foster wasn’t going to find playing time over Tobi, Niang, Tucker, and Reed. There might be a time where Furk and/or Thybulle, House go down and our large wing depth (which is already pretty bad, talentwise) is sparse.
I think FOs draft BPA, in general, but will grab two-way players to fill eventual needs.

I like Saben Lee. I thought he was a good pick, when he was drafted. I'm surprised he couldn't stick.
On pure talent, Michael Foster shouldn't have been the one who was cut, but finances and luxury taxes obviously are guiding the decisions at the back of the roster. There is a 1st rounder at the end of the roster, who shouldn't be in the NBA, but he has a guaranteed contract, so he keeps his job.

I don't like cutting Foster for this guy at all. We don't need any more guards and this guy will never play here. Sure he can score the basketball, but I highly doubt he sticks on this roster. Dumb move cutting Foster. I know Foster may or may not have a home in the NBA, but he's exactly the type of player you hope develops given his measurables.

Maybe he did figure out the 3pt shot. Small sample size, but this year's G-League numbers are off the chart for him. 47% on 7.6 attempts per game. Only 7 games, so that's 25 for 53. Not a ton of attempts, but it is more than Embiid has all year, and as many attempts as Shake and Tucker have this whole season - combined.

Champegnie should've been cut before Foster. And they should've just signed Lee to a 10-day contract if we don't have a long-term plan for him. We have the roster slot available. Didn't have to waive anyone. But there's probably some detail of roster rules that I'm missing.

I don’t know what we see from Jaden Springer and Julian Moet.

Unfortunately, that was last years stats. He’s like 3 for 21 this year from three.

We couldn't bring up a guard from our G-League and not have to cut Foster?
