Michael Lombardi, former NFL exec, has made a bit of a name lately as an NFL podcaster on The GM Shuffle podcast.
His thing is bold takes, which got him and his podcast some notoriety in the last couple of years.
He is a Sixers fan, has talked about it for a couple of years.
So he goes off on the Sixers, says Embiid isn't the MVP, is out of shape, doesn't have mental toughness in the latest episode, goes off for about 10-15 minutes at the start of the episode.
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/a-lesson-in-team-building-from-the-76ers-browns/id1458884463?i=1000613107762
He says The Process is like a Ponzi scheme and it was a fraud. He blames the "asset management" culture of the Sixers, that is they acquire good players and kiss the ass of the star players, never push them, as opposed to demanding a culture of mental toughness.
So he thinks Embiid has been coddled all his career by the team and doesn't demand enough from him. Doesn't like Doc as a coach, doesn't think he prepares his teams for the playoffs. Didn't even bring up the leads he's blown during his career going into game 6.
Says Washington Commanders, which Josh Harris just acquired, could have the same problem.
I don't know if it's more disappointment as a Sixers fan or a podcast personality trying to make some waves with big opinions. Maybe some of both.
I hadn't heard that Embiid isn't fit, especially towards the end of the season. Maybe he is dealing with injuries like a lot of players. A bigger player is likely more impacted by minor injuries than a guy not carrying as much weight.

Re: Lombardi goes in on the Sixers
He was the MVP. He did not play well in the playoffs and honestly has a history of it. There were extenuating circumstances however namely his knee. I agree 100% with him not being in acceptable shape. I honestly do not want to here him talk about improving his dribbling. I'd much rather him say I can be in better shape. Because he 100% can. He should be able to drop to be 250-260 range and thats plenty for a seven footer and he would still be plenty imposing because it would be more muscle and less fat.

I was wondering what Mike Lombardi thought about the Sixers.

Yes, Joel was the MVP.
And yes, who gives a rats ass when you choke in the playoffs for the 5th straight year.

Losing on purpose creates a dysfunctional dynamic with the players intended to "rescue" the franchise. They're held in too high a regard.

Re: Lombardi goes in on the Sixers
"He [Josh Harris] believes in asset management and making the players comfortable" - I believe this is 100% true.
"If you follow Hinkie's resignation letter and if you follow the current GM Morey, they don't believe in culture, they believe in asset management." Uhg I think this may be true as well. Good point. But he hinted that this might change at some point.
His points about Embiid are interesting, especially about how he gets gassed and tends to mentally quit in important playoff games and how there is a lack of leadership within the team.

A completely incoherent set of ideas mashed together from old takes from 6 years ago. **** lame.
This guy sounds like the ultimate hack radio guy.

You mean the guy who was the worst GM the Cleveland Browns ever had? Do you know how hard it is to be the worst at that?

Hinkie certainly didn’t hold them in that regard. MCW trade as the perfect example of selling high. Also would’ve sold high on Okafor if not for those meddling Colangelos.

A Warriors fan starting a thread on this board about what a failed football GM and media hack thinks of the Sixers. Must be the silly season.
