If they can’t get a coach who has inherently more power than Embiid and Harden, a la a Phil Jackson or Pat Riley type, the culture won’t change.

Can you name those coaches or are they literally Phil Jackson and Pat Riley?

I didn’t say there were any. The upshot may just be that the culture won’t change.

My vote goes to Nick Nurse
Sixers fan since 2001. From Russia.

I secretly wish that Ime Udoka was still available.

I want Nick Nurse then trade Tobias for lengthy athletic players.

Make Jay Wright say no.

Then, Nurse.

I joked, but he reported on First Take about it and has quietly not been on the show since.

Budenholzer did wonders with Giannis, so I'd like to see him with Embiid. But any of these options will be better.

Of the externals, Nurse for sure. I do like the idea of giving Sam Cassell a chance. He has a relationship with the current players, had a rep as a big game player who’s cool under pressure, and wouldn’t be a retread of a coach who already failed elsewhere.

he is a Doc apprentice tho.

Team needs new voices and new ideas.

Jay Wright would be interesting only if Harden left. I doubt he would want to deal with trying to make Harden and Embiid work.

Agreed. The team needs a big shake-up. For better or worse, there isn't much that can be done to improve the roster. I would like to see zero coaches return from this year's bench.

Cassell has tried and failed for years to get a HC job--that says to me that he doesn't have chops, and is just a player relations guy. I would be severely disappointed if he were hired.

Three years ago when they hired Rivers I was fuming and wrote in here that the 76ers will regret it big time. Here we are now.

As a Sixers fan for 20+ years, this team needs strong leadership and discipline. No soft coach, no "players coach".

From the current list of available options, I would go with Sam Cassell as the top choice. I love internal promotions as a culture-builder.

If not Sam, then Nurse as the 2nd choice.

I don't want Monty (too soft), don't want Bud (ehhh, average), don't want Vogel, don't want D'Antoni (today's game has passed him).

Maybe there's someone else that comes outta nowhere.
Truth is on the side of the oppressed.
