Re: Sixers hire Nick Nurse
Great hire, he is the one I wanted as soon as he left Toronto.
Now I want them to keep Harden and see what a real coach can do with this roster.

You guys got a great coach. From Doc to Nurse... wow.
Those Toronto teams surely overachieved. Let's see what he can do with a better roster.
I'm awaiting to see what Morey does with Tobias too.

Great hire. I can't see him coddling our star players the way that Brown and Rivers did during their tenures.

I don’t know that any coach can win with the roster we may be locked into going forward. However, he is a smart coach, and if he thinks he can win with this group, I can’t wait to see it.

nurse is a great coach but lost the locker room a bit last year. not a knock against him - just think he vibes more with a vet team looking to win a chip. alot of next season will still depend on what happens with harden. and i'm very curious to see how he coaches a team with a center as it's star while having to conserve his defensive effort.

Wonder who the staff will be.
Also, Harden is so gone, he'd hate playing for a coach like Nurse.

Works for me. Although initially it might be a shock to our senses seeing actual adjustments and different things tried during games. Don't be surprised if you find yourself checking to make sure what team you're watching.

Kind of how I feel. I just don't feel the roster is there and the Sixers are out of trade assets. But curious to see what Nurse can do.

Not gonna pretend I know how this will go, but Nurse did the most with the least amongst the candidates with HC resumes. I'm just happy Doc is gone and they're trying something new.

Re: Sixers hire Nick Nurse
Nurse is used to athletic types. Maybe Morey will be motivated now to stop the pursuit of old slow unathletic types and actually bring in some athletes.
Also wonder if the Sixers would try to move Maxey in a deal for Siakam or something. Or Anunoby.

Yessss. Excited to see what happens next with the roster. Morey got his guy and this upcoming season will probably be our best chance to win with Harden/Embiid.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Grimes/Edgecombe/Gordon
Oubre/Edwards/Council
George/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Bona/Drummond/Broome

I would imagine he's going to experiment with different looks after seeing first hand how stagnant our offense could get in the playoffs. As much as he loves long, athletic players, I'm very much hoping to see some Embiid-Reed lineups.
Hopefully we've seen a permanent end to Joel getting the ball at the 3-pt. line to start his move, and Joel holding it forever at the elbow and in the post. If he can improve Embiid's decision making, the offense will already be much better.

Re: Sixers hire Nick Nurse
People will wonder how Embiid feels about the hire. I'm not sure it's a bad thing if Embiid dislikes it. There needs to be way less cushiness around this organization. Everyone is far too comfortable. Morey probably has one of the most secure jobs in the league even though he's done nothing. Embiid can do no wrong. A has-been Harden gets whatever players he wants in free agency.
Embiid realizing he will get a coach who will call him out on his nonsense could be good for him. And if he can't handle it, you were never going to win with someone that fragile anyway.

Re: Sixers hire Nick Nurse
Best case scenario for a new coach, I’m excited to see this team with a new leader at the helm. I think Embiid disliked Nurse as a rival but will probably enjoy having him as a coach. Embiid has generally proven to be coachable & responsive to new voices so I think it’ll be fine.
It certainly does seem to hint at Harden leaving not at minimum his situation/opinion being irrelevant to decision making.

It’s a valid point about him losing the locker room but I’m willing to give him a pass. FVV was in a contract year, OG was in trade rumors daily, and Barnes got anointed to early & didn’t work hard in the summer. It was a weird situation.
Add on top the fact that he & the team had that weird Tampa season where the couldn’t go home because of COVID. It was a strange few years for the Raptors so I kinda get why that locker room was a mess.
