Official Roster/Lineup Thread: Post-Soften Trade

Here's my guess:

PG Maxey | Beverley | Korkmaz
SG Melton | Oubre | Springer
SF Harris | Batum | Martin
PF Covington | Morris | House
CE Embiid | Reed | Bamba

Ideally I'd like to see Springer get more time now that Green is gone, but I suspect the veteranosity of the guys we just brought in will eat the bulk of the minutes.

I'd rather see Oubre or Morris starting over Covington. Hopefully the Sixers can upgrade over Melton eventually as well

Short term we at least need another playmaking guard or wing that can create their own offense a bit. We have smaller movable contracts and second rounders to do that unless we make a bigger move (Brogdon?) first.

I see Morris as ahead of Bamba at the 5, maybe K Mart too, Bamba is not a serious candidate for playing time ever.

No idea what to expect from all those PF's we acquired.

Batum is closer to a C than a SF at this point of his career.

I am curious to see if KJ Martin is any good. Athletic 6'6'' PF, that cannot be fully neglected from the three point line. Those kind of energy players typically gel really well with Embiid.

Covington lost a couple of steps, so aside from some deflections and stocks he's probably a negative on the defensive end, but the combination of those defensive actions and the shooting range he still has value imo.

Morris is an older, worse version of Tobias Harris, with even less affection for the rim. Unless he revamps his playing style, I'd rather have someone else on the court.

Maxey/Pat Beverly
Melton/House Jr.
Oubre(no change 29mpg)/Batum
Tobias/Covington (PJ’s 22mpg)
Embiid/Reed

Now we will see who will get Pj’s minutes. Im guessing its gonna be Roco but there’s also a good chance that it might be Batum.

I imagine Oubre is going to be the offensive force in the second unit indefinitely, which is good for him. Hoping Green’s departure opens time for Springer.

I wonder if we could snag Brogdon for like 2-3 SRPs and filler.

JRoy will let us know in a few short hours it’s still early on the left coast.

Maxey
Brogdon
Harris
Batum
Embiid

I wonder if this leave some space to start Reed at PF at some point, as an experiment

I wonder if we played Danny early on to give him some game film that might help him get another deal. We must’ve known he was likely gone when the trade officially happened.

I don’t think we need to dramatically alter the rotation. Overall I’d do the following:

Batum = starting PF. His passing & versatility will fit perfectly with that group.

Roco = backup PF next to Bball Paul at C. Those two will be crazy disruptive & offer solid run protection.

Morris = feed him the scraps

KJ Martin = not totally clear but should be moved around a bit to find his fit. I’m curious to see a Maxey/Melton/Oubre/KJ/Reed lineup that plays 1000 mph.

Can we drop one of Morris, Batum or COvington? Seems like a lot of players, we will have a logjam(and we already have oubre and Tobias) .

Need them as salary fillers for the trade deadline. It will get sorted & clarified eventually.

High level guard you say? Does that mean Eric Gordon? We need to keep it the Philly Rockets.

I think it could be more of a rotation. Covington is a better fit next to Embiid (Defense/Rebounding), while Morris provides a bit more offense next to Reed.

I would not be opposed to giving House a chance to start for a while if it isn't one of the older guys. Oubre fits nicely in the bench role so far.

Oubre is a shot creator and is arguably the best bench scorer the Sixers have had in years. Keep him where he's at now and have RoCo who is a better fit next to Maxey and Embiid start.

Morris is 1000% washed. I'd rather give any minutes that would go to Morris and Batum to Springer

Neither Morris or Batum will play a meaningful minute again in their careers

They are salary filler only. Any minutes Morris gets over Reed or Springer or even Covington is a wasted minute
