Even if Maxey didnt have this jump i thought it was dumb to trade him for Dame. You dont trade a young rising player for an old one. Dame is good, but he wouldnt be enought to make us win the title anyways.

Yeah munchkins decline faster than good sized players, of course guys that have great jump shot last a bit more but still, never a good idea to trade a ransom for a munchkin that age. I expect Maxey to be a bad player at the same age Lillard is now, but that's like 10 years from now so...

Yeah small guards tend to decline fast. Lillard was always a huge gamble. Still I didnt expect him to be this bad so early. Hes for sure for going to be better with some more rythm under his legs and more chemistry with his new team.

Still him showing this kind of decline is no coincidence and a terrible sign for the Bucks long term plans.

On the other hand, Maxey already playing at peak Dame level is also insane. Its only been 1/8 of the season tho, lets see how it goes. But the kid is showing hes the real deal and it would have been dumb to trade him for Dame (my bad as I was not really opposed to that idea).

I posted in threads during the preseason that Lillard was going to be a disaster this season, and that Sixers should trade Maxey, but not for Lillard.

Maxey is getting seriously overrated.

I love watching him play, but when it comes down to it he is a tiny shooting guard with some play-making ability who relies on circus shots and long uncontested 3's to score.

He's off to a great start, but that 50-point game is fool's gold. He got a bit exposed against Celtic's team of second-stringers trying to shoot through traffic. In that game he reminded me a lot of Donovan Mitchell - a player who read his own reviews and started believe he is a top player in the league, so got caught attempting a lot of dumb shots.

He doesn't control the floor like a real point guard. He relies on lightning speed and has taken the league by surprise this year. But he's not a playmaker. Teams will now be game-planning for him and we will see him start to get trapped by defense. He's too small to pass out of double teams, and not clever enough to avoid them. If he doesn't blow by teams he'll be stuck

The Sixers should trade Maxey while his value is overheated in the league. If he is the second-best player on the Sixers it will be another early playoff exit.

Meanwhile - Bucks killed their team by trading away Holiday and Allen for one of the most overrated players in history, well past his best.

We have an 11 game sample size of Tyrese as the lead guard. We are 8-3 & he’s averaging 28/7/5 on 49/43/95 shooting.

One subpar game against Boston & we’re getting advice to sell high lol

Yup, plus it's not like the kid is ever satisfied with his current game and doesn't work his ass off every day to improve. When he entered the league, the biggest knock on him was his outside shot. Once he improved that, it was his defense and playmaking ability. Now that Harden is gone, he's elevated his playmaking ability and his defense has improved from last season. The next and arguably final step in his evolution is how to handle being the primary focus of opposing defenses and being double teamed on a regular basis. You best believe that he's using his mornings and off days to work on it.

Does that surprise you? All it took was one less than stellar performance on the back end of a BtB to bring out the "same old Sixers, Embiid sucks" trolls, so this would be the next natural progression.

No rational person expected Maxey to go for 40+ a night or to suddenly dominate game in and game out, but only a fool would look to move a uber-talented, hard working, home grown kid who is the consummate team player and who lights the place up and wants to be a star here.

This is the guy so many can't wait to move for ... what? Zack Lavine?

He’s 6”3 200 lbs

You should watch a game - you will see his actual size out there rather than reading PR and stats.

lol

its not PR. The heights listed are legit nowadays. Maxey is normal PG height now

People act like he's sub 6'

You need to watch him play - always looks like the smallest player on the team. He's Patty Mills size with slightly longer arms.

Because he's quicker than those smaller players, maybe that's what you're seeing.

He's legit 6'3, looks about the same size as Donovan Mitchell, and I think more than 200lbs.

Maxey will cool off but he’s still really good and very likely better than Dame. His combination of shooting and speed is hard to defend with Biid playing 2 man game with him and that stepback.

I dont see him being a superstar but who knows.. Nobody see it coming for Steph and Jokic. And if you can score and is an elite shooter, you have unlimited ceiling nowadays.

Yeah they start throwing around words like "exposed" "Maxey was exposed." Mmmmmkay....We were on a b2b coming off a track meet with the Pacers. We were up against the second best team in the league. Sure they were shorthanded, but so we're we. Now it's time to trade Maxey? For Dermar DeRozan? A career playoff choker.

????

Guy is shooting over half of his 3's from Pull ups and has been over 35% from 3 on those and over 50% efg (overall) on them since last season. At this rate, we have enough evidence to project Maxey at his peak could be a top 5 shooter on the league.

I just don't get critics like this. You can say the same about Curry, who cares? the shoots go in and are mostly uncontested because you get enough separation from the dribble or your release.
