Welcome Paul George!

Regarding Paul George, his splits indicate that he struggles against top teams and, more notably, in the playoffs. In his podcast, George addressed his Game 5 and 6 struggles, attributing them to the Mavericks sending extra help. He mentioned that if he could change anything, he would pass more to open teammates and potentially increase the pace, as it’s difficult to attack a set defense.
As for his injury history, George has missed a similar number of games as OG Anunoby over the past five seasons, though his numbers are boosted by playing over 70 games last season.
Paul George is a very talented player, and signing him is a no-brainer in my opinion. The front office likely understands his limitations. It would be wise to structure the team to anticipate him missing some games and to use him primarily as a third-option scorer. This approach would allow him to serve as a pressure release valve, rather than relying on him as the primary offensive creator, as the Clippers often did.

highest scoring trio in the NBA (based on last season)
Joel Embiid: 34.7 points
Tyrese Maxey: 25.9 points
Paul George: 22.6 points
A combined 83.2 points. No other team comes close

Although there will be a lot of skepticism (especially from rival teams' fans), I'm pretty optimistic. Only need Embiid and PG to be fresh come play-off time, which could be done while we have a somewhat deeper team (Drummond, Oubre and hopefully McCain should help carrying the load with Maxey during most of the RS). But PG13 is the best fit to Maxey and Joel you can get to me, apart from some players we could never get.
We got 2 years now to go chase a title, we would need some luck but doesn't any team?
If KP isn't healthy (will be out until january apparently), the Celtics aren't very deep either. Horford is finally really old, Jrue is also injury prone
Knicks still depend on Brunson, Bridges and OG can't create much
Bucks got Doc
OKC is unexperienced
...
There are chances, but we cannot squander them anymore

Alright! Welcome PG13!
I don't find his age and contract length to be a concern because his game style and fundamentals will allow him more years in the league than the average 34yo.
Always adored his 'by-the-book' game, dribbling, footwork, shooting, decision-making, defensive rotations...
Joel, you can go to sleep now.

Well since you insisted the first time and got locked, maybe make the title Welcome Back PG

edit: or Welcome Again PG
I don't know, I see a greater majority is excited about this and I promised myself that I'd remain indifferent if George was the target because it wasn't my first choice (neither was trading for Ingram btw), so I'm just finding ways to embrace this next phase by laughing at the reactions of fans... from all teams.

Need to hurry up and trade the picks before they get confiscated for supposed (((tampering)))
Embiid being inconspicuous on national broadcast.

What data are you referencing? His playoff struggles are overblown.
He has a pretty huge sample of playoff minutes across his career now and his teams are +11.7 when he's on the floor in the playoffs compared to +7.6 in the regular season.
For the counting stat guys, he averages 21.2/7.5/4.1 in the playoffs compared to 20.8/6.3/3.7 in the regular season on fairly similar usage (26.0 vs 27.2) and efficiency (56.1% TS vs 57.2%).

He was excellent in the regular season last year as well.
He was 8th in the NBA in EPM in 2023-24. He was 3rd in the NBA in regular season + playoffs combined RAPM in 2023-24. His recent yearly on-offs were the second best of his career (+14.3 in 2023-24).
I can't find full multiyear RAPM available anymore but from 2017-18 through 2022-2023 he was 7th in the NBA.
He should be a great fit next to Embiid and Maxey and I’m a lot less concerned than most about how he’ll age. He’s arguably the greatest Sixers free agent signing of my lifetime and even if he’s simply an aging overpaid 3 and D player at the end of his contract, it will be well worth it. Even moreso when you consider that we weakened the Clippers, whose picks we own in 2028 and 2029 (swap). That could end up like another Celtics/Nets situation where we are able to retool through an outsourced tank.

All I can say, is, I really hope this pans out for us for a change.

Hopefully this atones for the Sixers taking Evan Turner over him in the 2010 draft.

Yep the Embiid's window to win something is 2-3 years, after that we're rebuilding on Maxey, hopefully McCain and picks/youngs.
So who cares about PG13 age? At that stage he will be a large expiring contract at worst.

Big move. The age and years are concerning, but we just replaced Tobias with Paul George.

This was the cleanest, most sensible fit. Even if it wasn't the 1st choice.
All the picks intact and are currently appreciating in value.

Gotta love it when a plan comes together. Awesome signing, perfect fit, and we finally get to watch THE NBA wing prototype in a Sixers uniform. We’ve suffered through years of 3 guard lineups, wings who couldn’t shoot, and Tobias Harris. I’m going to enjoy the Paul George era very much.

Aight congrats. Yall have shared some stats that show that he still has some left in the tank. Hope he comes through in the playoffs. Wonder who Morey gets to round out the roster.

I'd agree with that. especially if we don't shoot for the stars and cap hell with someone like Lauri haha.
