I'm personally excited about the idea, but how can we bring him in? He's $19,960,284 this season and $21,336,855 next season.

Basically S&T Martin in a balloon year 1 (matching Smart’s salary 100%) and make years 2-3 non guaranteed. Obviously add picks.

By the way, doesn't it strike you that the Bucks are practically immobile? Apart from acquiring Delon Wright for 3.3 million, I don't think they've done anything else. Anteto won't be very happy.

I think the new CBA and their lack of moveable assets has basically frozen them for the immediate future.

He got his wish last year with Dame. Frankly, losing Jrue hurt more than they expected. That and Doc...

They're above the second apron and don't have more picks to move. There is not a lot they can do

This has always been difficult for me to understand. Thank you very much.

"Morey used the room exception to bring back Kelly Oubre Jr. and
still has a few trade exceptions (including one worth $6.8 million that was created by the most recent Harden trade), a little bit of leftover cap space, and a whole bunch of draft picks to play with. " From the Ringer article today:
https://www.theringer.com/nba/2024/7/1/24189819/paul-george-signs-philadelphia-76ers-nba-free-agency-2024Does anyone know how these trade exceptions work/how we could use them?

My understanding is you can take on salary without salary going out up to the amount of the exception. You cannot combine the exception with a player going out to increase the amount able to come back. You can't combine exceptions either.

Thanks. So it's only really usable if someone decides they want to just give us a player e.g. to get under an apron?

As far as I know, we need to renounce all of our trade exceptions together with the cap holds in order for us to use the cap space to sign PG. So all of the trade exceptions we gathered from trading korkmaz, harden, etc were renounced.

Marc Stein says Clippers another team hot after Batum.
Maybe it is a money thing, but part of me wonders if the Sixers didn't want him back. Considering how early in the process that news broke.

From a team building standpoint, Morey dodged a bullet when Maxey didn't make an All-NBA team.

I think that, similar to bird rights, trade exceptions have to be renounced to use cap space. Otherwise the Sixers could have worked out a sign and trade with Harris to Detroit, gotten a $26 M trade exception, used their cap space, then used the trade exception. League rules have closed that loophole.

Wouldn't have loved 3 years, but not bad number money wise.

Could've kept him if they wanted at that price. Obviously preferred Oubre and Drummond and I can't blame them.

doncic, irving, and klay. What makes them think that then can beat the celtics with that lineup
