Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
I can't believe you delinquents haven't set up the regular season thread yet, so here it is right on time from yours truly before Game 2.
Hope we can win at least one of these first three this week, then Embiid and George return for Game 4 next Wed vs. Tobias.

Doesn't count until Embiid/George are playing. Extended preseason

Don’t want to panic after two games, but the eastern conference will probably have Celtics, Knicks, Cleveland, Bucks, Magic and Indiana all taking the regular season seriously. Sixers do not want to drop too many early. Do not want to put yourself in the play in and possibly getting bounced or facing Celtics round 1.

This team has yet to prove it has the character to win on the road against good teams in the playoffs, so it should be playing the regular season to get the #1 seed.

This can’t be overstated. The franchise operates like the opposite is true.
They also keep pretending they can consistently win while being a piss poor rebounding team. Nothing has changed there.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Butler
Grimes/Edwards/Gordon
George/Oubre/Council
Yabusele
Embiid/Bona/Drummond

Absolutely. The best way to avoid losing to the Celtics in the second round is to play anyone but the Celtics in the second round.
The mantra of games in October don't matter loses legitimacy when you're fighting for the 6th seed with 3 other teams on game 82. At the very least, they should have been more prepared to enter the season without Embiid. It's been a complete embarrassment so far. I'm not sure what Nick has been doing for the past 2 months.

Yea, I feel like most teams that win a ring are locked in from day 1 and are on a mission. They also usually value getting a top seed. Just didn’t feel like we’ve had that urgency these first two games, but I also bet it’s hard for the guys to be focused when the top two players are out (and embiid / the sixers are hinting that he won’t play other regular season games even when healthy).
Edit: I should add to be fair, if Maxey shoots like 50% these first two games, they are both close / winnable, and a lot of his shots were ones he can make. If he plays better, maybe this isn’t even a conversation.

I wonder if the right approach is to let Maxey, Gordon, McCain, Reggie Jackson, and our wings put up 40-50 threes per game off a 1-5 action with a big playing drop on defense and also on deep 3s, then crash the offensive boards for extra possessions to offset a likely low shooting percentage. This could be more effective than repeatedly attacking Poeltl or Brook Lopez at the rim.

Good time to bet on Sixers while PG and Embiid is out? +900 to +1200 now

Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
Defensively, I’m not sure if we’re intentionally training our guys for switch defense, but we’re closing out on players aggressively, rotating hard, and it’s just not working right now, especially when we play small with Yabu at the 5.
Offensively, it seem like we’re finding ways to fully maximizing Oubre and Caleb. We’re running a lot of curl actions for Oubre into the paint and using Caleb as a point forward, with guards screening for him to drive. While we all wish Embiid and Paul George could’ve been there for the first three games, the upside is that we can work on better defensive rotations, improve rebounding, and make the 4th and 5th guys in the lineup more than just spot-up options in the corner.

Re: Sixers 2024-25 Season Thread Part 1
If the Sixers win a championship, can the parade just have the players and none of ownership or front office? They don't deserve to be celebrated, they're repulsive. It's a disgrace they put the fans through this crap every single year. Embiid's leg could literally get severed in a game and they'd tell us the next day they aren't sure if he'll be able to play the next game.

I'm guessing they had to take the full meniscus out. He probably doesn't have any left, and its full on bone on bone. Any time he plays, the knee swells up and the pain is excruciating.
His knee is basically ****
Even better we signed him to a long term extension
