RIP Harold Katz

Just saw in my FB newsfeed that he passed. TBH he owned the team before I started following them. Obviously the pinnacle of his ownership was winning a CHIP in 83 but the team steadily declined in the years afterwards especially following the Sir Charles era in Philly. RIP.

He really F’ed up the Barkley era especially with the 1986 draft day trades.

That said he brought us a decade of contenders, multiple finals appearances and a chip.

FAR SUPERIOR owner to the little rat who owns the team now.

RIP Harold Katz

R.I.P.

He was the owner during the most glorious era of Sixers basketball, so I'll always have a warm spot for him.

Katz was both a terrible and fabulous owner, he bought the team and was willing to make the trade for Moses happen when Moses wanted a huge contract for the time...and then he pushed for the 1986 debacle that saw us trade Malone and Brad Daugherty for broken players and money. RIP Harold.

Truth. I didn't suggest he was a 'great' owner, only that he happened to be the owner during the greatest era of Sixers basketball and the NBA. He did the Moses deal and got us a chip, and he certainly did f***k up the '86 draft royally.
