The fault lies with the people who decided that giving a 34-year old oft-injured career playoff underachiever a 4-year max contract was a good idea. I'm not going to blame a guy for taking money from the only people stupid enough to hand it to him.

I don't even think PG has been terrible. He has been, as predicted, a bus rider. We knew he was never living up to the contract. Or we should have known.

There is no continuity or cohesion with this team and that falls on two sets of shoulders, neither of which is PG.

George is here to be the scapegoat for all of Embiid’s shortcomings—just like Brett Brown, Ben Simmons, Doc Rivers, and Tobias Harris before him.

That's a bunch of bullschiit. I know you have a hard on for Embiid, but the George signing was management malpractice of the highest degree, period.

Brown was never equipped to be a coach of anything beyond a tanking team, Rivers is a joke who has found more ways to lose with teams he should have won with than anyone thought possible, Tobias was and is a mediocre talent born to play on losing teams, and Simmons was and is among the greatest wastes of natural talent that ever played in the NBA.

I'm not defending Embiid here, but let's not get into the worst kind of revisionist history to make the point.

Ignoring the thousands of minutes of data that display Tobias Harris as a parasitic playoff entity on both Joel Embiid and Maxey (that we all have access to) where was this superhero Assassin just last season after Kuminga landed on Joel's knee? Surely that should have been the runway he needed to unshackle himself from the big boat anchor that was holding him back.

We went from 30-7 to 39-35(!) before Embiid came back and we went on a late streak to even make the play-in game. And even in that game 575 year old Nico Batum gave us a sidekick performance better than anything Tobias has in 5+ seasons.

With #1 option Tobias we spiraled at a pace unseen since peak Process days.

But now, since Joel Embiid is hobbled and with a meniscus that's been worked and reworked and reworked so many times over that he can hardly elevate he no longer has the ability to show up and backpack any band of scrubs to 50 wins.

Anyone that's suppressed their hatred for him (primarily his own fan base) has now finally been granted leeway to puff their chest.

My favorite stat is the one Arsenal shared a while back---- in playoff games where superstars go +10 or better: LeBron, Durant, Tatum, Giannis and Jokic are undefeated by a combined record of 247-0.

Curry is 68-2, Luka 16-1, and Booker is 14-1.

Meanwhile, in 24 such cases Joel Embiid is only 19-5, including in possibly the biggest game of his career (ECSF G7 2019).

Joel Embiid has had his fair share of playoff lows, but his lack of postseason success more than anything is a representation of the Sixers inability to build competent rosters around him. I can't think of another player that's been sent into war every season with expectation of primarily burdening the half-court scoring load and anchoring the defense simultaneously - this isn't something any of contemporaries are tasked with. Even the closest physical comparison in terms of do it all anomalies to him in Giannis Antetokounmpo had a DPOY caliber Lopez to anchor the paint for years while he roamed helpside and conserved energy.

Total PS career, Embiid has an on/off swing of +23.64
Jokic's is +3.83
Tatum's is +4.21
Luka's is +10.25

I'm totally in agreement with the idea that building a squad around the vision of Joel Embiid // his inconsistent health and temperament has long sailed. I even totally respect slagging off Joel Embiid to prop up all timers like Giannis and Jokic, sure but Tobias Harris and Doc Rivers? Go soul searching and find some shame.

I never expected him to live up to the contract. That's a given at age 34. But I did expect him to be a max-worthy player this year. Then slowly degrade over the life of the contract.

All-Star (just barely) year one,
above average starter year two,
league-average starter year three,
and then WAY overpaid 6th man that we can't stand in year four.

We're seeing in year one what I expected to see in year four.

It was semi tongue in cheek. Have my post deleted if you like. I trimmed it and added colour. Even wrote "green font" if that helps.

In no industry I've been in do people get paid over $1m / week guaranteed for 4 years without some sort of performance requirements (KPIs).

I'm currently on an 11 day break not knowing if I'm unemployed as of next Tuesday from a 2nd job that I work 28hrs/week worth $125k/yr. Just because my client had a bad day & takes it out on me & everyone around him.

I'm jealous and it makes me nauseous.

I need pictures!

More of a TLDR than having an issue with the take.

I feel you on the frustration. And feel free to get it out. I just don't have time to read the ravings of a mad man when I've got enough of that going on in my head.

Why are people acting as if they were all against getting PG the day it happened? please, go watch the "welcome Paul George" thread.

There were some here that were strongly against it. It just went south faster than anyone could have ever expected.

Im not gonna blame guys for being for the signing. A wing who can shoot, defend and get his own shot makes since between Maxey and Embiid. But instead they got Podcast P , a part time player who coasts through games, cant put together more than one good game in a row, is washed and has no burst.

They signed Podcast P not Paul George.
