2025 Fantasy Trade Thread

Didn't have one of these as a lot was happening on the Trade Deadline thread, but now that we are back into just waiting, thought i'd kick this up again.

If we pick 6, and BPA is a guard... do you consider moving McCain to get another pick that rebuilds a different position? (what's the deal)

Or do you *gasp* consider moving Maxey for a treasure trove and build around McCain/6 ?

I prefer to keep both Maxey and McCain, and would only consider moving McCain in a trade for a young wing or PF, or in a combination with #6 to possibly move up for Flagg if that actually became a possibility. Best case scenario is keeping our pick and maybe picking up more picks by moving virtually anyone else on the roster.

I would move either one if the price is right, but it's a very high price. Pretty sure we wouldn't get fair value on McCain due to the injury. And Maxey's value may not be ideal right now either after having a trash roster around him this season.

If BPA at our pick #6 is another small guard, ideally we trade down or out for a haul of picks.

We should be on the lookout for young stars or potential stars whose value is down. Someone like Paolo Banchero perhaps. Zion would be another one but maybe he's turned it around so it's too late. Looks like the Bulls made an excellent deal to get Josh Giddey.

The only way to get one of these guys is when their value is low.

Who are some guys like this we should potentially target?

Everyone on the roster should be for sale for the right price come summertime.

If the Sixers get the 6th pick; I'd consider moving that, too.

Chances Embiid asks for a trade this summer? How about George?

I think the Pelicans and Zion are going to have a real look in the mirror at the end of this year and decide if this is the place for him. With the Pelicans having a projected top 5 pick, I think they will consider if Zion is worth the squeeze or if they should do a rebuild. If we are fortunate enough to get a top 6 pick, then they could have 2 excellent picks to put with Herb Jones, Trey Murphy, Yves Missi, and Jordan Hawkins. Not saying I'm advocating for that, I'd entertain it for sure.

Name that comes to mind as someone with the upside of being a fringe top 10 player trapped in a bad situation is Lamelo Ball. I truly believe he's incredible and the fact that people doubt his ability to be “a winning player” is nothing more than narrative, if you watch just one quarter you’ll see how untrue it is.

He has bad habits, but he’s played for a the most talent deficit organization in the NBA.

The Hornets are 13-23 this year when LaMelo plays, and 1-21 without him.

Reminds me of the conversation around Cunningham last year, except Cade was a lot more babied by media and LaMelo has been better this season than Cade was last season.

BTW in 23-24 the Pistons were 9-53 w/ Cade and 6-15 w/o. They surrounded him with shooting and defending and now they can magically win games.

I know the Hornets have been a stupid organization, but they appear to be under different management now that Jordan's gone. Why on earth would they trade Lamelo of all players?

Question for you - would you trade #6 for Lamelo and throw in McCain if that would make the deal?

Oh god, don't trade any assets for LaMelo Ball please.

PG - I think there's quietly gonna be mutual interest in him moving

Embiid - I imagine he's gonna be far too concerned with whatever long-term rehabilitation he has going on to be thinking about wanting a trade.

Agree. Embiid's immediate concern is if he's even going to have a career beyond this season.

+1 I think if we wanted to...We could possibly move Paul George this summer. It would be a tough sell though. Probably more difficult than the Harden trade and I don't think the return would be the same.

I would think the more likely possibility would be moving George at the deadline, especially if he stays healthy and we can pump his numbers up next season in a semi-tank season. Next year's deadline will hopefully be the all-time Sixers sell-athon.

McCain and 6 for LaMelo is a lot, even though I like LaMelo. It's certainly worth thinking about. I think PG going to a 3rd team would probably have to be a part of something like that as well.

Trading Embiid this summer at his absolute lowest value seems like bad business. Maybe if we get a fair-value offer, i.e. young star + pick(s), then you pull the trigger. We'll have to see what that looks like. Maybe if we really don't believe in his long-term availability then you let him showcase himself and trade him at next year's deadline (heartbreaking AF).

The key to any major trade will be keeping our pick. If it lands 1-3, you keep Flagg or Rutgers bro. If it lands 4-6, I'm not opposed to trading it for a star that aligns with *Maxey's* timeline (i.e. LaMelo, Zion, Ja). I don't think Edgecombe or Kasparas have franchise-level player upside.

I'm not sure how many teams will be interested in George now that GSW is off the table. You might be able to attach his salary to the pick to get one of the aforementioned young stars.

Pick + George for Lamelo/G. Williams

LaMelo/McCain/Butler
Maxey/Grimes/Walker
(MLE)/Edwards/Council
G. Williams/Yabusele
Embiid/Drummond/Bona

Pick + George for Zion/Jones

Maxey/McCain/Butler
Grimes/Edwards/Walker
Jones/(MLE)/Council
Zion/Yabusele
Embiid/Drummond/Bona

Edit: Grant* not Mark Williams

I love the LaMelo trade but hate any idea of trading for Zion as long as Embiid is on the roster. Well beyond fantasy would be doing both of those trades, CHA with George and NO with Embiid, and replacing the pick in one of them with McCain.

LaMelo/Butler
Maxey/Grimes/Walker
Jones/Edwards/Council
Zion/Yabusele
Williams/(MLE)/Bona

Not sure how it would work, but it would be insanely entertaining.

Mine..

Tobias Harris
Isaiah Stewart

Ausar Thompson
2 picks swaps or 1 draft pick

I'm out on acquiring a star via trade, but why down on Lamelo?

Elite scoring, elite positional rebounding, elite passing, great defensive numbers

The only knock on him IMO is availability.
