Is there any hope on his shooting? Any hope at all?

I’ll get behind this one and hope that Morey is right. He will at least provide some rim protection & rebounding on a team that badly needs it. He at least has some good vision as a passer so I’m hoping he could do some damage out of the short roll.

We legit need some dawgs. I like it, I think he might be able to carve out a career. TJ McConnell style.

I'm guessing this pick all but guarantees Drummond is gone and was done for depth purposes for when Embiid inevitably sits. Bona is likely our primary backup center and starter when Embiid sits. I guess our ownership/front office doesn't want to pay for a vet back-up.

He'll have a career in the league just based on his rebounding and rim protection, but how much he plays will depend on at least being a threat from 3 and improving his FT shooting to the 70% area (he's just over 50%). If he develops his passing off the short roll, he's got some Draymond Green in him. That's a lot to ask, though.

okay so get this, we sweep the Blazers in the finals in a few years and say "get the Broome" which means bring the bench guy off the bench for a few minutes in game 4 but there is a double meaning because brooms are for sweeping and it will be accompanied by little emojis of brooms which I'm talking to Howard Mass about adding to the emoji library for this very reason. So if you think this is a bad pick you're an idiot.

43% from midrange which is good. Generally big men show shooting ability with solid midrange percentages (and a willingness to shoot from outside).

That said, I don’t have high expectations.

Some people are saying he's the next Hartenstein or even Sabonis as a high-level outcome.

Sounds good to me!

How do you guys compare him to Drew Timme, as both were dominant college guys who kinda dont fit in the nba? Is he a better defender?

Tough one from a posting perspective. "It's Drew Timme" (like 'time') vs. "Get the Broome." How could I choose!

Surprised the Sixers took him. We'll see how he does, but this was a pick I wasn't a big fan of. It's interesting they went this direction after how poorly Okafor worked out for them. Not that their games are exactly the same, but their profiles are similar. Slow footed bigs who live in the post, can't jump, and aren't very good shooters. Bigs in this league need to be able to move and jump. I just don't see that with Broome.

Okafor had no motor and, from what I understand, Broome is all motor.

If he could somehow play as a PF it would be a huge win for us. He and Bonna as our backup front court would be nice, since he seems to be a good defender and a nice post player. But his ft % is pretty bad, so i dont think he can improve his shooting baring a miracle.
