Does anyone still view Sam's contract as a huge mistake? He's shown some improvements this season, but still is limited, so I'm kind of shocked there isn't more talk on Sam being moved...maybe that's b/c Ricky is no longer here??

At any rate, the interest is definitely back...let's see how these moves pan out.

If we can get rid of Sam for an expiring + 08 1st rounder, and use it on someone like Biedrins(I doubt GS gives him close to the max) etc. I'm all for it.

Get rid of Green, Evans, Carney to clear up more cap space.

We could not unload Sammy unless we are certain we could get a decent center back- which is sometimes easier said than done.

As of now Sammy would be a good compliment to a scoring PF- and because of Sammy that PF does not have to be a great shot blocker or intimadator.

TK76 hit it right on the money....
Sammys contract isnt THAT bad considering the way he's been playing this season, and if we can get a scoring PF to put next to him i think it would help him out tremendously.

I too am on the keep sammy banwagon. As far as the Josh Smith thing, I thought about that the other night and I think it sosmehting that hasnt been discussed enough. As long as it doesnt cost an arm and a leg, aquiring a stud like J smooth to get his rights is a very interesting idea

Cany anyone fill me in on this rumor and what it involves?

I find it hard to believe that we would trade for another SG/SF type of player. Stefanski has said that his first priority is a PF who has an inside game and can score with his back to the basket.

IMHO, keeping Miller and adding a good low post player means this team would be a lock for the playoffs.

The rumor is quite vague, it is just a poster from philly.com, with a somewhat reliable source according to the posters on that site, stating that a trade is imminent in the next few days.

I mentioned Pietrus just because he was eligible to be traded yesterday.

I dont want this to turn into a session of fantasy gm. I dont think its Pietrus...I think we will get an expiring for Green or Evans prior to the trading deadline.....and thats all I know right now. We may have to include a future #1 to do it.

I do not think we will trade Andre Miller.

I do not think we will obtain any long term contracts this season.

I think our core player acquiring will be this summer, and not before then.

I know you said we are probably targeting Brand, Marion, or Josh Smith. Any talk of going after Okafor?

We have offered Willie green to Miami for Zo's contract(he would be waived-gonna retire anyway). We have also offered Green and filler for Jamaal Magliore's contract.

Other names that have been discussed include David Harrison, Dooling and Voskuhl as far as expiring contracts go.

I am not sure which deals include picks and which arent.

I dont think anything is imminent...but they are exploring ways to free up 3-5 more million for this summer.

Have not heard about Okafor...but doesnt mean they cant become interested this summer. He seems on paper to be a fit. The focus right now is on freeing up room, they will evaluate who they can get at a later date.

Sixerfan,

Milwaukee is well under the cap, would they want a pick or Carney with Green to deal Voskuhl?

In regards to Orlando and Dooling:

With so many expirings in Orlando, and their team being so strong, doesn't it seem logical that they might step up strong for Miller? Or another big name target to get ready for the playoffs?

Orlando is very strong, their front line is athletic, long, can shoot and are very complimentary to each other. A piece like Miller or Kidd could put them over the top.

I agree, this shouldn't be a fantasy thread, but the Orlando option seems to obvious.

But we dont want to trade Miller.....period.

Dont know why we would want Voskuhl or what is involved in that..just heard the name.

I think they may keep Carney unless someone offers up something nice.

Okafur is a restricted free Agent, it is extremely unlikely the BobCats wouldn't match an offer

they might not be able to match an offer if we are willing to break the bank on Okafor.

This is funny how a couple of insiders and a holiday trade has got everybody really excited again.

Thanks again, Sixerfan, I am sure we will chat many times before the deadline. Please keep us up to date when u can.

Happy New Year

Need to be careful with this one. Okafor has not played like a franchise player & should not be paid like one. BK paid Sammy $60 million for 6 years & we've never heard the end of it (10 million a year average). Al Jefferson just signed for 5 years $ $65 million (13 million a year average); a figure that is considerably higher than Sammy's salary. I'd bet that Okafor feels he's worth at least that.

Sixersfan1976, Miller obviously isn't our point guard for the future correct?
And since Ed doesn't want to trade Andre right now, would the assumption be that he would rather trade him next year as a expirer for a actual player with valiue?
What are the feelings on Louis Williams there?
