Iguodala's Turnovers.

In the beginning of the year, Andre was turning the ball over like crazy. 4.3 TPG the 1st 15 games of the year.
However, these last 17 game he's really turned it around. Only 2.2 TPG. While averaging 20 PPG and shooting over 46% from the floor.
His turnover rate (basically percentage of "possessions" that ended in a TO) was 15.7 in the 1st part and 9.4 in the second, which for a wing is going from being well below average to being more than above average.
This is a really good sign in Iggy's maturation. Expecting him to stay that low is a little unreasonable, but if he can hover around 2.5 a game while he's the primary option the rest of this year, that would be sweet.

Yeah. I was actually just about to start a thread on this. His turnovers have done a complete 180. In December he averaged 19.9 ppg, 46% shooting, 37% 3pt%, 4.1 apg, 2.3 spg, 2.4 topg. A #1 option that has nearly as many steals as turnovers is a very, very good thing.

Normally I would be concerned about Iggy's lower assist numbers, but considering Korver and Green aren't here (Green injured) and the rest of the team really can't shoot to save their lives sans Louis Williams, I don't think the assists are that much of an issue.
Hopefully after we get a player who puts butts in the seats next year, he'll start averaging +5 once again...

I big man who can actually catch and score the ball down low would do wonders.
(besides the correct statement that nobody on the team can catch and shoot).

He has been, you've just learned (correctly) to ignore him.

Isn't this also not a result of Andre Miller doing more distributing duties last month(s) -> look at his possesions and assists and Iggy doing more scoring/finishing and less playmaking.
Don't mind it either, because I have him on my two fantasy squads

I think he's also looking for his shot over the difficult pass a bit more, which will bring down his TO's. He's definitely shooting better, more confident in his shot, and is less willing to squeeze in the perfect pass over taking a jumper. Either way, he's playing very well.

Agree with the last 2 posts. I think the lower turnover are directly a byproduct of him doing less ball handling and not trying to slip every pass through a small crack. Not ironically, as Iguodala's turnovers have gone down, Miller's assists have gone up.

I agree with you that less responsibilities to create has helped improve his efficiency. In addition to Miller getting more assists, Williams has goitten more PT in that stretch (although his numnbers haven't been so hot since his fall.)
I think some credit goes to Dala for slowly learning how to adapt to the added attention defenses are giving him this year.
Some credit goes to the team- for switching to a more up tempo style (more fast break points but the smae overall scoring) that lowers the number of half court possessions where Dala is more likely to to make TO's.

Not to make too much of this, but his turnaround coincided with BK's ousting.
Could he have lost confidence in his fearless leader, too?

If that's a fact, it must be something with the initials.

You.....you can't be serious. How is he not a team player? If I ever had a concern about Igoudola it was him being TOO MUCH of a team player. I worried he wouldn't step up and take over, but he's shown glimpses of it.
I used to have my doubts about him ever being a good "THE MAN". But the past month he's letting the game come to him more, and it's REALLY paying off.
I always thought he had tremendous skill, but would be best suited as a 2nd fiddle. Now.........not so sure.
Definitly a pleasent suprise to see him progressing rather than regressing.
