Willie Green needs to go ASAP

Post#1 » by LongLiveHinkie » Thu Jan 10, 2008 2:15 am

He brings no consistency to the table, we have plenty of other players that could start in place of him, and he is eating up around 5 million of cap space. I don't see why he is still on the team unless there is ZERO interest in him out there. I find that hard to believe though. While his trade value isn't high, I'd think a team would at least give up 2nd rounders and/or salary dump for some scoring off the bench.

His value isn't going to get any higher and he is just taking minutes away from Lou and Thad. If he is still on the team in march then it will be a travesty.

I can't take another airballed 3 pointer. :banghead:

I've been calling for his head since the end of 2005. He brings nothing to the table.

exactly why he is still here....he brings NOTHING to the table.
hence why no one wants him.

we should seriously try and move Him and Miller together.
possibly to Orlando for a bunch of there expirings/picks

Good luck trading Willie Green! He miraculously got a 5 year deal and no team wants that. For some reason tho he continues to start and play 30 minutes a game. Just doesnt make sense.

:D lol

No one wants Willie Green. Our best bet is to bench him. That won't happen though.

Yikes! On that note, Willie Green will be the first man to live to be 200 years old.

Nobody is untradable. And green's deal is not a killer deal. In fact, only next year is guaranteed. It was based on PT and health. It also has a player opt-out. And Green just may use it. How many young guards barely making 3 million on average per year of the contract averages over 13 to 15 Pts a game ?

I will bet anyone here that Green will be dealt for, and within the next two weeks. Mark my words.

How many teams would give Silly G 30 minutes a game to get those 13-15 points........ 1

LOL! Starting a "Willie Must Go" thread on this board is just about the same as starting a "Cowboys Suck" thread on the Eagles Message Board.

This may be one of the only threads that will not see an arguement of some sort.

wrong... clearly sixers fans hate willie more than eagles fans hate the cowboys :)

Wait... I don't agree with that. Until I see a "Willie Green Sucks" shirt or a car with a sticker of Calvin pissing on Willie Green, I will continue to think that Eagle Fans have more hatred for the Cowboys.

Hmmm... that sounds like a good idea. Allow me to add my contribution to this thread.

You might as well change it to Calvin Booth.

Someone has to have the worse starting SG in the League... And the worst starting PF... And the worst back-up center.... and the worst post scorers... and the worst shooters... in the league. Why spread the frustration to many teams when we know Philly fans know how to handle frustration.

The funny thing is that even though our team has "the worse starting SG in the League... And the worst starting PF... And the worst back-up center.... and the worst post scorers... and the worst shooters... in the league"... we have the 10th worst record. What does this say of the 9 teams currently worse than us? It's too early to be in tank mode and yet we have somehow been better than almost a third of the league.

Despite losing a bit of faith in December, I am now back on board with the belief that we will finish in the bottom 7 for worst record.

We still play hard (amazing that that is a rarity and not a given) have a solid PG to keep us in games, a center that at times forces other teams to settle for jump shots, and haven't had major injuries to key players in the last 2 seasons.

I agree though, there are some sorry teams out there- and if we move Miller we certainly will be in the hunt for a top 5 pick and an excellent shot at the lottery.
