I want to see everyone's big picture view of our roster.

Request- please tell us your complete ratings before commenting on other peoples ratings

-Team Goal in one line
-3 acquisitions, then,
-Players ratings
(2 ratings, see below:)

1st- Ideal yield from player in next 2 years:
K: keep on roster
T: Trade for another player of similar value but better fit/need
D: Dump for capspace, unproven youth, picks
E: Let contract expire (for capspace)

2nd- Ideal role on a winning roster (player projected in 2-3 years from now)
Star- Top 2-3 player on winning roster
Starter- Role player starter on winner
Key Reserve- 20+ minute reserve
Marginal reserve (spot minutes, limited role player)
No role on a winner

My Team goal: Young, athletic, high scoring, pressing, cap-friendly team with no one player who dominates the offense- Princeton O, trapping D

Acquisitions: 1. Big time scorer with range or post skills
2. Additional PF or C of Sam's build with a hook shot
3. 6'4 good shooting PG (Lou may have to suffice)

My ratings
Miller D or E Starter (but in 2 years will not much time left at that level)
Iguodala K Star (2nd or 3rd of 3 stars on a winner in 2 years)
Lou Will K Starter or Key reserve
Thad K Starter
Smith K Key reserve(borderline marginal)
Evans D Marginal reserve
Sammy K Starter or Key Reserve (but maybe too pricey)
Booth E Marginal Reserve (can't hurt to have as 11th man)
Carney K or T Marginal reserve (?Defense or 3pt's later in career)
Hill K Marginal Reserve
Amundson E No Role
Shav E No Role
Ollie E Marginal reserve (pg insurance at minimum)

So Freshie, you think we have 3-4 of the starters and 1-2 20+ minute reserves.

That means you think we are pretty close to being a winner. Possibly just 1 star starter and 2 reserves and a couple years of seasoning away.

That sounds like like simple acquisitions if we have all the assets/cash from dealing Evans and Miller.

I thinks we are a bit farther away, although our ratings are pretty similar.

I just realized I left out Willie Green. Maybe since he's not very tradeable he stays as our practice dummy.

I don't think they are that far away...but the player they need may not be available. A healthy Brand on this team makes a world of difference.

Maybe. Ideally I would love to find a healthy Jermain Oneil type player without the attitude and at 15M instead of 20M.

Also, notice I say winner, and not Champion. In my view, you only get to win a championship if you are blessed with a top 2 NBA big man or MJ (best ever non Big) and then add other star level players. Almost all of the recent Champs have had MJ, Shaq, Duncan, - and all of those teams had other stars too. You can steal one with a solid team like the Pistons- but the odds are against you.

No way to even guess when the Sixers will be in the position to get a championship- maybe not in the next 10 years (which sucks, but is reallity.) Certainly no sure fire way we make a move that puts on that trajectory- unless we manage to acquire Lebron or Oden- and that's not happening.

Sure, but I don't think anyone will ever see a healthy JON again...his injuries seem to be chronic and lingering. Brand is still a health risk, but his injury was a one time acute orthopedic injury that was surgically repaired (I hope) and his long term prognosis is much better than JON's.

this team needs to dump Miller and Evans for Expirings, get Brand and Calderon and PLAY UPTEMPO. they look awful in the halfcourt and if they play halfcourt, and acquired Brand, they need to run the pick and roll on every possession.

Tank.. Great reward needs great sacrifice.
