Mid-Season Review (16-25)
Well... in case you haven't noticed, we have now crossed over to the dark side of the season and entered the 2nd half with a record of 16-25. Rather than do "mid-season grades" which tend to either be a lot of A's or F's... I figured we could just have a quick survey.
What's your answer to the following questions?
1. Over/Under for Wins is 32, which do you have?
2. Who is the Sixers' MVP thru 41 games?
3. Who is the biggest disappointment thru 41 games?
4. Has Mo Cheeks done an acceptable job?
5. Should Mo Cheeks be the coach of this team next season?
6. Which player has the brightest future on this team?
7. Should the Sixers play their starters (Green and Evans) as much as possible and push for the playoffs or should they play their young players (Young and Smith) at the cost of winning games?
8. What would you rather see: The Sixers as the 8th seed in the playoffs or the Sixers with the 5th worst record?
9. What position is the team's biggest need?
10. Do you believe this team is headed in the right direction?

1. Under 32 .... atleast i hope
2. at this point no one has been MVP it seems to be someone else stepping it up ever time they win. Good games in loses dont count for me. If i had to pick i would say either miller or sam
3. I would have to say AI2 hes continues to show that he is nothing more then an above average player that really doesnt fit on this team going forward. But he may be the peice that nets us the SG or PF we need. Only way he fits on this team is if you go with a 3 pt shooting PG now that Young looks to be our new SF.
4. NO... playing AI2 45 mins the other night is the perfect example. This season is about getting the young guys mins... not playing AI SAM and Miller 40 plus mins to win a game that means nothing going foward. Mo is a perfect assistant coach...
5. NO he doesnt do a good job at putting the players in the right positions at the right times... all he knows is to play AI2 SAM and Miller 40 plus mins and hope they win.
6. Young has the brightest future but hopefully that player witht he brightest future is a player we get in the draft this summer.
7. Play the young guys... Only way playing green and evens and such now makes sense is if you are planning on trading them... So i fully expect to see young start after trade deadline trades or no trades.
8. 5 or worst team
9. PF with PG/SG close.... If we keep miller then we need to get a stud PF and a 3 pt threat SG someone who can spread the floor. IF we trade miller then we need a PG that can spread the floor like Rose. As time goes on i think we could keep miller and trade AI2 then maybe get a beasly for PF and trade AI2 for a stud SG.... I just dont see AI2 fitting on this team unless we can get a pg who can hit some 3 pointers...
Either
Miller
SG traditional SG that hits 3s to spread the floor
Young
PF- can score down low and rebound
Sam
Or
PG- needs to be able to hit 3 pointers to spread the floor
AI2
Young
PF- has to be able to score and rebound-
Sam
10. This team will come to the cross roads this trade deadline... This team will be heading the right direction if they trade Miller or AI2... if they keep them both this team will not be seeing a championship for a long long time... luck aside.

Re: Mid-Season Review (16-25)
1. Over/Under for Wins is 32, which do you have?
Over. I think it will be slightly over, but I think it will be over. We're bound to run into teams 'tanking' (I hate using that term) like we did at the end of last year.
2. Who is the Sixers' MVP thru 41 games?
I'd like to say Dalembert, but I'm going to go with Miller.
3. Who is the biggest disappointment thru 41 games?
I don't really think there has been. I didn't have huge expectations for anyone. I never though Andre would average over 20 points this year. I didn't think Thad would even play, and Smith looks better than I thought. I would say Korver, if he was still with the team.
4. Has Mo Cheeks done an acceptable job?
I think he's done an acceptable job thus far. I wouldn't leave him in charge of a potential 50 win team though.
5. Should Mo Cheeks be the coach of this team next season?
I don't see why not.
6. Which player has the brightest future on this team?
Again, I'd like to say Thad or Lou but the truth is it's Andre.
7. Should the Sixers play their starters (Green and Evans) as much as possible and push for the playoffs or should they play their young players (Young and Smith) at the cost of winning games?
I wouldn't play Green in either situation. To answer the question, I'd play the young guys.
8. What would you rather see: The Sixers as the 8th seed in the playoffs or the Sixers with the 5th worst record?
I don't think anyone on this board would rather see the 8th seed in the playoffs, me included.
9. What position is the team's biggest need?
Position? PF, no question.
10. Do you believe this team is headed in the right direction?
I don't really know what the direction is at this point. I'd have to wait to see what we do with Miller and the cap space.

1) Under, The losses of Korver + Joe Smith certainly have had an effect on our win/loss column.
2) Through 41 Games...Samuel Dalembert. He's been consistent all season, there's no reason for him to continue the same way, or even improve.
3) Rodney Carney. His fundamentals are absent.
4) Yes.
5) Yes. I wouldn't be upset if Cheeks coached this team for the next 2 years. 3-4 years from now, He's more than likely a goner.
6)Thaddeus Young.
7) Play the young guys. AMAP(As much as possible)
8th seed in the playoffs....With our scouting department we could still draft someone very good in the mid-first round. Next season(free agency) excites me the most.
9) Power Forward
10) Yes. King, although despised by many, laid a good foundation in place for Stefanski. We'll be back to winning in no time.

I'd say just barely over because Andre Miller seems a little less likely to be traded.
2. Who is the Sixers' MVP thru 41 games?
Probably Miller, though I haven't watched as many games as in previous years so I don't get to see every tiny little detail anymore.
3. Who is the biggest disappointment thru 41 games?
Carney
4. Has Mo Cheeks done an acceptable job?
I guess. We can do worse, but we can also do much better.
5. Should Mo Cheeks be the coach of this team next season?
If we're trying to win next year, then no. He's not a good enough X's and O's coach.
6. Which player has the brightest future on this team?
Tough to say, but Thad's got the potential to be it.
7. Should the Sixers play their starters (Green and Evans) as much as possible and push for the playoffs or should they play their young players (Young and Smith) at the cost of winning games?
Young players should get an increase in playing time.
8. What would you rather see: The Sixers as the 8th seed in the playoffs or the Sixers with the 5th worst record?
Worse record.
9. What position is the team's biggest need?
Anybody who says anything other than PF is wrong.
10. Do you believe this team is headed in the right direction?
Slowly but surely, yes. If the team can add a decent starter we're in the playoffs next year for certain.

1. Over/Under for Wins is 32, which do you have?
*I'm sticking with my preseason guess of 32 wins- less if Miller is traded
2. Who is the Sixers' MVP thru 41 games?
*Sam is most surprising, and most valuable.
-Miller continues to show his value in different ways each night.
-Dala is surprisingly less valuable than last year- although not a total shock that he is finding it hard to maintain his productive play last season now that he has even less weapons around him and draws attention every night.
3. Who is the biggest disappointment thru 41 games?
*Lou Williams. I thought he would be breaking out- and looked to be before he got knocked down and never fully got back up to the level he had been playing at. I hope he bounces back with a strong second half.
4. Has Mo Cheeks done an acceptable job?
Yes- this season is measured by effort, opportunities for the young players and the team playing organized despite all of the youth and lack of shooters and post play. We have lost a lot of close games, but have played well- which is the best of both worlds.
I would like to have see more of Thaddeus earlier, but I can't argue with how he has brought him along in a way that doesn't ask him to do to much or shake his confidence.
On the same token, Smith may have been thrown to the wolves a bit too fast and may have hurt his confidence- as demonstrated by the loss of his shooting touch- although I see him starting to be more agressive and turning the corner.
5. Should Mo Cheeks be the coach of this team next season?
*Maybe. If it looks like we have the core in place we may need to change coaches assuming we want to put a more organized system in place. If the youth movement continues and we don't land a big name PF and Shooter then might as well keep Mo and his positive energy. Either way I ultimately want Mo part of the coaching squad in some capacity.
6. Which player has the brightest future on this team?
*Iguodala- He is still young, and this year has been the biggest adjustment. If we do bring in more talent hopefully it will help his game and attitude.
I would love to see Young be even better than Iguodala, and there is a possibility, but he is basically just being an energy guy out there, so there hasn't been enough shown to know what he will become. He is very raw, and who really knows what kind of player he will become. At very least a good athlete, high energy player who plays solid defense and has a nose for the ball.
7. Should the Sixers play their starters (Green and Evans) as much as possible and push for the playoffs or should they play their young players (Young and Smith) at the cost of winning games?
*If we play less WG and Ebvans we likely will win just as many games. I don't mind using those guys, as they are young too, and likely could become valuable role players if they can't be dealt. Just make sure the young guys get as many minutes as them or more.
8. What would you rather see: The Sixers as the 8th seed in the playoffs or the Sixers with the 5th worst record?
*I see the Sixers as having no shot at the playoffs and no shot at the 5th worst record. I see them ending up 8th-12th, and no shot at the lottery either. Maybe we slip to 6th if we move Miller soon.
I guess this is fine as long as the games we win are on the backs of our developing young players. Only Miller is over 26. I see us dealing our pick as part of a dela to acquire a relatively young vet.
9. What position is the team's biggest need?
PF, although we don't exactly have great shooters on this team either.
10. Do you believe this team is headed in the right direction?
Yes, although I do not see contention in our future. We really moissed our window to get luck and get a superstar in last years draft. I doubt we will get that kind of player where will be picking this year either. I hope we are building toward a 50 win team in a few years who is relatively young, and then maybe we could make a move that puts us into contention like what the Pistons did when they got Sheed.

Good work on the Survey, GP.
1. Over/Under for Wins is 32, which do you have?
Under
2. Who is the Sixers' MVP thru 41 games?
Stat-wise, obviously Iggy.
But player I'd most want to keep: Sam.
3. Who is the biggest disappointment thru 41 games?
The people who complained after the Kyle Korver trade.
4. Has Mo Cheeks done an acceptable job?
Definitely. For this season.
5. Should Mo Cheeks be the coach of this team next season?
No. But keep him in the organization.
Assistant Coach to LB sound familiar?
6. Which player has the brightest future on this team?
Thad, hands down.
7. Should the Sixers play their starters (Green and Evans) as much as possible and push for the playoffs or should they play their young players (Young and Smith) at the cost of winning games?
Come on! Starters don't give us a better shot at playoffs.
The starters are a joke. We all know that.
It's only a way to showcase these guys for trades.
Also, we might lose more games with those starters.
It makes sense why they're not playing the lads.
Ease them in.
Let 'em stay fresh enough to play 82 games next season.
8. What would you rather see: The Sixers as the 8th seed in the playoffs or the Sixers with the 5th worst record?
Given that choice? Cleary, 5th worst record.
Otherwise, you're rooting with your heart & not your brain.
Rather see playoffs than back-end of lottery though.
9. What position is the team's biggest need?
A 4-man. Obviously... But a wide one.
With muscle, grit and real-deal post moves.
None of this Josh Smith nonsense.
10. Do you believe this team is headed in the right direction?
Absolutely, 100%. We have a real GM now.
