Back Seat Moderating Violations

Post#1 » by dbodner » Wed Jan 23, 2008 2:01 am

I'd like to point out to everyone that back seat moderating is against our terms of service, and is considered an offense. If you have a problem with a post, click the report button. If you have a problem with a poster, PM me or one of the other mods. Do not publicly make comments about a poster or request action to be taken. That's considered instigation.

Hmmm.... I normally can see what this is in reference to but point well taken.

Do you consider "IBTL" posts part of the problem??

What is IBTL?
Don't worry, that builds character and you can never have too much character...

When there's a thread that's inappropriate or stupid, people will post IBTL (In before the lock) before a mod comes and locks it.

Not that I do it, but does posting the link to the 'official trade thread' count?

Just wondering, but what does the PF on the mods' avatars mean?

This has nothing to do with tacking anyone serious, but in trying to make this a hospitable place to talk basketball.

Someone posting "I think and such should be banned" in a thread is bad for the forum. If you want an example of this, try visiting the ESPN forums and see how much engaging basketball discussion goes on.

yeah? I'm not sure how it's necessarily any worse than excessive micro-management of thread discussion.

This isn't a "what's against the rules" thread, this is a reminder that back seat moderating is against the rules.
