It Finally Hit Me....

The only way we get a quaility PF with talent, and its not old or risk is Beasly. This team needs this 1st pick in the draft really bad. Beasly is our ONLY anwser to the PF spot. Then we use our money to give josh smith a max contract or close to it. Then this our lineup:

PG: Miller
SG: Iggy
SF: Smith
PF: Beasly
C: Dalembert

Bench

PG: Lou
SG: Green
SF: Carney
PF: Young
C: Jason Smith

This is our best option going into the future, if this doesnt' happen I see many struggles for more years.

That starting lineup is the worst shooting team in the history of the NBA.

The only flaw I see in your plan is that there is no way we can possibly get Beasley.

We Have Thaddeus Young for the 3
Beasely is a 3
If we had the Number one pick we should select Derrick Rose
Then with our cap room we could sign Elton Brand
PG Rose
SG Iggy
SF Thad
PF Brand
C Dalembert

too bad it didn't finally hit you that we have an extremely unfavorable likelihood of getting a top 3 pick. Beasley is not happening.

PFs that might be able to be had this upcoming summer include: Amare, Gasol, Okafor, Gooden, Jamison, Randolph, Haslem, Frye, Tyrus Thomas, Wilcox, and possibly Brandan Wright. While Jamison qualifies as "old" and some others (Gooden, Haslem, Wilcox, Wright, Frye, Thomas, and Randolph) challenge the definition of "quality"... we are far from having "only" one way of acquiring a PF this summer.

Also... I'm still on the Darrell Arthur bandwagon. This is far from a "Beasley or Bust" situation.

Agree.

ES has a chance (capspace+picks) to be very creative.

I have said it before, but my sleeper PF option is Nenad Krstic. He was an Ed Stefanski draft pick so there's no doubt he liked what he offers. If Krstic can prove he's back to near 100% before the end of this season, I could see us trying to make a run at him (if other options are unsuccessful). He's still only 24 yrs old and was improving at a nice rate up until he got hurt last year. He's not an athletic freak (more a finesse guy....european style game for a PF/C) so the injury doesn't hurt him like it would guys who rely on jumping ability.

He's not my first choice, but if healthy, I think he would be a solid fall back oprion if he comes at the right price. He will surely come cheaper than the Okafor, J. Smith, Brand, Jamison etc. types. He's a RFA so the Nets could match, but there's a lot of talk about them looking for a PF so if they acquire someone this year, or in the offseason, I could see them letting Krsitc walk (or not wanting to match an offer by the Sixers).

I also agree that there's way more than 1 way to get a very good PF besides drafting Beasley.

Let's see what happens...there is more than one way to fill a need, hopefully Ed is resourceful.

As long as we keep Miller just like last season we have virtually no chance of getting the #1.
