Sixers Summer Is In Trouble Now

The Gasol trade ruined us. Not that we didn't get Gasol (didn't want him anyway) but Memphis is going to have around the same cap room we do. Now we must TRADE MILLER NOW, so we can get more cap then they do so we can offer more moneyto FA. Now we have competition this summer and that was one thing I was hoping wasn't going to happen.

Why? Players will want a chance to win and get there money. They are not going to be close to winning in Memphis just another Atlanta Hawks if you ask me. We are a better destination with similar money and better players. We have no reason other than trying to tank to trade Miller at this point.

At this point, the only PF I want his Okafor. Plus he is a restricted FA and we need throw enough money so the Cats don't match. We need Miller out now.

From my early calculations the Grizz won't have that much cap room, only about 6 million or so.
And if they get a top 3 pick, that dwindles down to 2-3 million.

Kwame is 9 million off the cap alone...

Yeah Kwame is 9 million off, but they were already going to be at 57 million last year with Gasol, you minus his 15 from that you get 42, plus a 4 million rookie you get 46, plus another 1 million dollar rookie that's 47, plus 2 million dollars for Crittendon you get 49-50 million.
That leaves them with 8 million, 2 million less than us.
Now if they trade Mike Miller then yeah we're screwed.

Players will go where they can get the most money. If they can win, that's a nice side prize, but if Memphis puts themselves in a position to offer more money, it IS a threat.

The Sixers still have more cap room officially right now, but that could change in due time. The Sixers don't need to compete for cap room though. Having slightly more cap room doesn't guarantee you get the player over the other team, and even if it did, there are other players to target.

Not worried about this at all - This wasnt a move to free up space to get a key FA - this was done to make the team easier to sell - Im more upset that they got our 16th man than with the fact that this will hurt our offseason, which I dont think it will
I have man-love for Crittenton but by the time he'll be eligible to be traded again wont it be past the deadline? Or is it possible to move him again?
This was the worst Shaft since Samuel L Jackson

Not really. I just added up their committed salaries for next year (including values for the 5th and 20th pick, for their pick and the lakers pick) and they're sitting at about 48.2 million in salaries for next year. Which puts them at about 9.8 million in cap space, which is just about the exact same we have.

critt could be traded again tomorrow as long as he isn't combined with any other players from the memphis side.

Just to clarify, he can be traded at any point by himself (tomorrow, 2 days, 2 weeks).

Lets just be honest right now...say the salary cap is the same...would a player chose to sign with big market Philly or small market Memphis...exactly.

Do the Sixers HAVE to use their cap space this offseason?
Even if we sign a big name PF we still won't be big time contenders next year.

Who wants to play in Memphis long-term anyway?!?!?!!?!

SDU- there's been buzz about Brand, but no one is talking about (or interested much in) agent zero.
Many of us assume we will use are assets and cap space in a trade and not straight up sign a FA. Also, more people talk about the RFA's (Smith, Okafor) than the FA's.
