If this is Marion's first game as a member of the Heat, I think the Heat find a way to win it. However, if Marion isn't ready to dress for the team, I think the Sixers will win this game in a big way. I suspect Marion will not be ready hence...

We have to tank NOW. It's amazing how close we are to at least clinching Michael Beasley. And all these teams are actually trying.

We're very bad, we can be worse by simply trading Andre Miller.

By the way, if you assume that we will get to 30 wins this season (11-22 for the rest of the season), that would mean that in order to get to the following spots, the following teams would have to finish with the season the following records.

1. 21-14
2. 20-15
3. 17-16
4. 17-17
5. 16-18
6. 15-21
7. 12-21
8. 11-22
9. 11-23

As you can see, we can already forget about reaching the bottom 5 for worst records. It's possible that the Clippers go 15-22 but extremely unlikely. Is Brand coming back soon? If not, there goes #6 which means that within reason, the best we can do is finish with the 7th worst record.

The 7th worst record gives the following odds of finishing in the top 3.
Pick #1: 3.60%
Pick #2: 4.16%
Pick #3: 4.90%

It's better odds than last year but this means that there roughly is an 88% chance that we will not be moving up to the Top 3.

as long as thad keep starting and we win games because of that, I dont mind the wins. But if we roll with the wacky line up that has evans and green in at the same time, then No Mas! If our young guns (thad, lou, and smith) help propel us to the playoffs, then I think that would be alright. I've kinda lost hope on getting a star out of the draft. Hopefully we can snatch Bayless away if we do finish with a 6 or 7th pick.

Hewy is right. If we succeed through our youth the plan is working. We just need to hope that Ed Stephanski is an intelligent drafter, and listens to Tony DiLeo. Our 7-9 pick could yield a nice player to solidify a team that's already learning to win a bit together

I'm glad to see that some of you get it. The point of my second post in this thread was to show that even if the Sixers started "tanking", the odds are that they still won't crack the bottom 6. And so if the best you can do is end up in the 7th spot, well... I'm not going to encourage losing for that.

But as Hewy said, what I do not want to see is Evans back in the starting lineup and Thad, Lou, and Jason Smith not gettting heavy minutes.

Regardless of whether we tank or don't tank, I still believe that we are going to end up somewhere around the 9th pick in this draft and not in the playoffs since our schedule becomes BRUTAL once again at the start of March and goes thru the end of the season. I listed 30 wins above (11-22 the rest of the way) but our schedule may not allow that.

I'll be honest. Much like last year I have no problem with the talent in the 7-11 range in this year's draft. Especially if we're smart in free agency. Not to bog this thread down with trade comments though....just saying...

By the way, it's CRAZY that even though we are currently in the 9th spot for worst record in the NBA we are only 1 game out of the 8th seed in the East. This would be alright if this were November 3rd but this is ridiculous.

I knew the Heat were bad but they've lost 20 of their last 21 games. Huh? What? WOW!

I swear the only reason I watch the games anymore is to see Thad.

Wildfire... you only watch the games anymore for Thad so I imagine that you consider Thad a "good player", right? Thad was the #12 pick in the draft and as of right now we're on pace to have the #9 pick in this draft.

Like I said... 2+2=6.

If all these guys come out this year (not a given of course), I think we get a real good player even if we are around pick 10

1 - Beasley
2 - Rose
3 - Griffin
4 - Gordon
5 - Bayless
6 - Mayo
7 - Arthur
8 - Lopez
9 - Greene
10 - D. Jordan

Throw in internatinal players like Gallinari and Batum, along with other PF/C options like Hibbert, Thabeet, Jason Thompson, Love, Patterson, Speights.

Based on that, I'm not sure there's going to be a huge difference between the player taken say 4th overall compared to the player takes 10-12th overall. I'm not real worried about win/looses right now based on the fact that we have almost zero chance of landing Beasley and Rose. I just want to see growth. If it means we win some games, so be it...same as if we lose games and still show improvement in the process.

I think my boy, Darrell Arthur, has played his way out of the Top 10. That's both a good and a bad thing. It's good 'cause we'll have a chance for him... but obviously bad that he's been inconsistent this year.

If we end up drafting somewhere between 7-12 and have a chance to grab Mayo, Bayless, or Arthur, I'll be very happy with our draft. Then again, who says we'll have a pick in this draft? I smell trade.

#00, Darrel Arthur is EXACTLY who i want for the Sixers. That's the guy.

I'm intrigued in his upside, but I still think he'll be a slightly better caliber player than Iggy if he reaches his potential. We still need that go to guy which is much more difficult to find at the backend of the lottery.

Is it possible? Of course, and I hope we do find that, but you still have a much higher possibility of getting a better player at the top of the draft.

Hopefully someone like Greene or Bayless will fall to us.

I couldn't disagree more (at this point). The guy looks like an underachiever to me, he should be getting many more rebounds with his athleticism and putting up more points with his skill.

At this rate, I'd probably take Jason Thompson over him.
