Deep Sixer PF Options

Narducci brings up Smith, Villanueva, Tyrus, and Gooden. Of the group, I think Gooden strikes me as your prototypical back-to-the-basket PF but he seems like a head-case who disappears for stretches. I also wouldn't let him touch a Sixers uniform until he cuts that annoying rat tail off the back of his head.
If we could get Villanueva for Narducci's proposed deal of Carney and Amundson, it would be a complete steal. I don't see that happening though. However, I do think Villanueva would be a nice fit in our lineup next to Sam. Think Twin Towers except CV has a much better stroke, more range, and is a better overall athlete than Hunter. Like Sam, he's also mobile for a big so he wouldn't slow our game down. On the downside, CV is also known for disappearing for stretches. I'm not sure CV is the long term answer at PF but I'd definitely take a shot at him and still try to acquire Josh Smith or Okafor. Basically, the way I see it is this; Stefanski should try to acquire CV or Tyrus as backups while at the same time, doing everything he can to bring in top tier PF's like Smith, Brand, or Okafor.
Smith is an interesting prospect because he strikes me more as a SF. However, the guy does make major impacts on both ends of the floor and he's still very young with much room to grow. He also would look great alongside Thaddeus, Iguodala, Williams, and Sam. I'm not sure there's a lineup that can keep up with this squad. Keep it close for 3 quarters like we did against the Wizards and then throw out that lineup to run our opponents out of the gym. No team is going to be able to match this lineups athleticism or speed in my opinion.
What Smith doesn't seem to have is the post up moves that a player like Brand or Okafor brings. Could Jason Smith be counted on to develop this aspect of his game and give us that low post presence? If this were possible, I'd definitely target Josh Smith in hopes that Jason Smith could be used in the half court game.

CV and Gooden I would take but only as ench players, which is not a role I thnk either of them like, but one CV would fit better into. Would I give up Carney?2 weeks ago I would have said yes, but he's played pretty well lately , and he could really help out long term as a spark off the bench. I know pretty much everyone, me included, have been down on Carney and he kept him out of our future plans, however, I want to see what he can do for the rest of the season.

The CV trade is very unlikely. Smith is interesting, he would be a nice fit for our team however the growth of Jason Smith is an important part of having Josh Smith on our team like you had mentioned.

I'd do CV....don't love him but like his versatility off the bench. Players like him on your bench are what make good teams good teams. Players like him in your starting line-up keep mediocre teams mediocre

I would trade Carney and Amundson for Villanueva in a heartbeat and I don't even like CV's game.
The options that Narducci listed are alright but I think Stefanski needs to aim higher. What this past week of trades has shown everyone is the cost for big name players isn't as great as we tend to make it out to be. The only problem is what big name PFs will be available before the deadline or over the summer. I'm fully on board the Emeka Bandwagon at this point.

Funny you should say that. Carney does have streaks where he looks very serviceable. That one handed dunk he had last night was off the charts. I had to rewind the Tivo several times just to see how that was physically possible. LW's dunk was pretty spectacular too.
IF - and that's a big "IF", Carney can continue to show me the type of effort he showed last night, I will also have to reconsider his worth to this team. If he keeps playing like that, it will have to be WG that goes - something I wouldn't lose much sleep over.
Back to Jason Smith and his impact on the Josh Smith situation, I think a lot hinges upon Jason's development. I could definitely see him developing some nice post moves down the road (hello, Big Man Coach!). This would really allow us to take the gamble on Josh Smith. And regardless, I think a player like Josh Smith, who's only 22, is going to have incredible value regardless of how he fits into our particular system. This is to say, even if he didn't pan out here, I think many teams around the league would still be more than happy to take him off our hands even with a big contract. He's not a commodity that is going to depreciate in my opinion because of his athleticism, drive, and age.

Blatche...

Am I the only guy not completely in love with Josh Smith?

Charlie V is mad as hell in Milwaukee and deservedly so, he's had games where his is playing great and is pulled in the 4th because Yi has to get his minutes. I would absoultely love a deal for CV. He is going to be motivated as ever WHEN (not if) he is traded. It won't cost much to get him right now because every GM in the league knows he's disgruntled.
Being from Canada I seen Charlie play alot with the Raps and I think he was underrated with them and he is sure getting a raw deal in Milwaukee right now. A change of scenery with the chance to play meaningful minutes is what he needs.
I'd say he would be a nice fit next to Sam, it sure wouldn't hurt to try, especially at a low cost, if he isn't starter material he could always come off the bench next year when the Sixers get their ideal PF

I'm not in love with Smith but if we miss out on Okafor... I would be happy if we somehow (unlikely) got him. I do know that SendEm and some others are not fans of Smith at all.

Iv always liked gooden more than most but he is not your typical back to the basket big as you referred to him as. He also has cut that rail off If im not mistaken and elmers glued it to his face

HA! didn't even notice that.
I'd be Ok with Smith if we had a bruiser in the middle. I still want Okafor next to Dalembert, though

Biedrins is my guy. I doubt we go after him though.

LOVE Biedrins. Just worry abouot he and Sammy not falling all over eachother in the paint. That's too much arms and legs flying around.

I think Okafor has to be the guy that we go after... if we go the free agency route. I still believe that we'll be much more likely to use the cap space in a trade (for who? no idea).

He's not untouchable so it's possible.
These are all options of acquiring him + whatever necessary filler
Iggy, Utah's pick, Lou Williams, Carney, Jason Smith, 2nd Round pick(s)

Put me down for Charlie V. He would be great for this team. If we could get him he would have to start or I see problems.
Charlie V has the potential to be an All Star.

I respect your lack of love for Iguodala... but there's no chance in hell I'm trading him for the hugely inconsistent Blatche. You know I'm with on Blatche but I can't see Washington parting with him unless he's part of a package trade that brings Washington a bigger name player.
