Just wanted to get some feedback from Sixer's fans on a trade I was thinking of and posted in a thread on the Bulls board:

Chicago Sends:

Kirk Hinrich ($11,250,000)
Joe Smith ($5,205,000)

Philadelphia Sends:

Andre Miller ($9,600,000)
Kevin Ollie ($3,441,900)
Herbert Hill ($427,163)

Reasoning: I have a feeling this is about the best deal Philly can get for Miller in terms of talent. Joe Smith has had a great season thus far and can help them out downlow for the remainder of the season. Kirk Hinrich is a proven point guard who will add defensive ability and perimeter shooting to the Sixers. The Sixers get back more talent than they send out, bottom line. Remember, they are only 1 game out of the playoffs, and with a nice veteran like Joe Smith and a starting point guard in Hinrich, they could push themselves in for a playoff berth. Chicago get's back a real solid point guard who is more fit for this team, and a couple fillers to make it work which expire at the end of the season. Moving Joe Smith frees up time for guys like Noah and Thomas, which is something every Bull's fan wants right now.

As far as concerning that proposal, I do not really know. Hinrich has played a bad season so far but overall he is a pretty solid player with a reasonable contract. Miller, on the other side, is better and his playing style enables him to play at a high level for years to come. According to hoopshype Smith's contract expires in this year but I think that is not accurate. Last offseason we offered him something like 10/3 and he rejected that proposal. That would be the deal breaker (I am also not convinced to trade Hill yet) if he has more years left.

Nice starting point but, we are giving up the best player in that deal and we are providing Chicago cap space? I don't think so. While Joe Smith is a PF he isn't really a low post player. Sixers wouldn't want him and give up Miller, that would be at cross purposes. How about as a counter offer.

I would probably pull the trigger on that deal, but Willie Green's contract doesn't fit in all that well with the Bull's cap situations and future, but I guess it could be worked around - it's not that big of a contract to take on board for 4 years.

I like the trade for Chicago. We get to see more of Tyrus (even though Joe has been nothing short of great for us), and salvage his development - finally getting to see what we actually have in him. We also get a point guard that in my opinion is much more suited to our offence, and with a few tweaks could get this team working again. Amundson is a small expiring deal who won't make the cut anyway. Willie Green's deal isn't too attrative to a team like Chicago who could net a big time free agent in 2010 and already has a couple nice SG's (Gordon/Sefolosha), but as I said the deal isn't massive and he could always be moved to a contender looking for a scoring punch for an expiring deal.

I'm not dissuaded by a bad year, Hinrich is one of the better PG's in this league. He also finally gives us a viable 3 point threat.

I like the Green Counter offer more.

Flite, my buddy from the Bulls Board! Yeah, I don't see Philly biting on this deal at all, they, will be in a similar situation as our Bulls are: Contract issues. They have one in Iguodala. They want to keep their cap space clear and low as possible to keep him. Adding Kirk would complicate matters, and would signal Iggy to drive up his price.

kirk is a scrub.i bet you haven't seen him play.he keeps the ball in his hands 20 seconds every offence posesion and than he jack up a 3...and this happens only when he doesn't comit a turnover

Kirk is a decent player, but at this point right now taking contracts into consideration. I'll take Miller over him. Joe Smith does nothing for me either, He's a good player but I just don't want him here.

Yeah I believe that Kirk's large contract throws out the window any "potential" that he has as a player. With him making $11 million this season he is to ONLY be judged on production...He's average...

His salary DECREASES after each year. I do think that he has a reasonable contract IF he can pick up his game again. I am sure he would not do here very well.

Excuse me, I forgot a career 15/6 player that hasn't even hit his prime yet is a scrub, my bad.

BTW, he's averaged 2.4 TO's in his career, so that part doesn't even make sense either.

Everyone has bad years, he'll be fine.

i think hinrich's contract is just too much to take on, especially in light of the year he's been having.

but regardless of what i think, stefanski seems to be making moves for flexibility's sake. this move would make us much, much less flexible. i seriously doubt he'd consider this.

He'd consider it in the off-season, maybe but not now.

If we have a chance to trade Andre Miller for Kirk Hinrich, we take advantage of it.

He's having a bad season=more lottery balls for us.

Young Point guards struggle in the NBA. He'll bounce back. When he hits his prime, we'll wish we had him.

This deal leaves us without a back-up PG.

I do the deal. Hinrich has a longer deal and we still maintain our 10 Mill cap space. We fill a need.

As for Chi-Town, they're not out of the playoffs yet are they?

It would be a nice deal in the off season once the free agent market becomes more clear. Kirk would go well with Iggy imo. If there is nobody on the market at PF then I would pull the trigger. I would probably pull the trigger right away on the green deal.

If Chicago is out of the playoff run(or say the off-season) they don't do this? Why. Because Ben Wallace's contract becomes 1 year shorter and they begin yet ANOTHER youth movement(how many of those is it gonna take anyway)
