TUESDAY'S WORST
Atlanta Hawks: Mike Bibby's arrival inspired the Hawks vs. the Lakers, all right: to a 41-point first-half deficit! Let's hope they're saving up all the good stuff for Bibby's Wednesday night
return to Sacto.

Mike Bibby joined the Hawks in L.A. on Tuesday, but the Lakers continued to torment him in a 122-93 blowout. Bibby left the game with what appeared to be a minor heel injury, finishing with five points and three assists.

I knew the Hawks made a stupid trade. Mike Bibby could be the WORST defender in the league. Korver is better then him. He plays no "d" at all, even Kevin Ollie can light him up. Plus look at how he got injured in his FIRST game as a hawk...better news for the 76ers!

This is a bit of an overreaction, isn't it? I mean, the team got blown out in his first game but I doubt this is what happens on a nightly basis and the story says he suffered a "minor heel injury" so it's not like he's out for any period of time, if any.

I don't like Bibby either but I think the Hawks will be better off with him than the garbage they sent out for him.

I know he got traded for garbage, but he is going take mintues away from Josh Childress who is there key 6th man. Also by him taking more shots it's less shots for JJ who we know wants to be the leader of the team (remember phoneix) and takes away shots from josh smith. Also he is more a defensive liability then any of the guys they traded him for. In the end the Hawks won't make the playoffs because of this.

I agree with TGP...They didn't give up anything. This can only help or have no impact, in my opinion

Hey man... I like your 'tude. If the Hawks don't make it than that should mean that we're in.

Really? So taking AWAY shots from 2 best players and being a defense liability is having no impact? He reminds me of chris webber here in Philly. Did he have a 20 and 10 reoubnd season? Yes. But we didnt' make the playoffs, he was a HUGE defense libability. It was bad enough Iverson was taking a lot of shots, so was he, leaving Iggy with only 5-6 shots per game. Trust me this Mike Bibby trade was a move just to make a move hence it came out of nowhere, just like the Webber trade...seems like they got a lot in common.

I just meant on the overall outcome of the season. His playmaking ability and scoring will help them as well. I'm just saying I think it's a wash.

not to go off topic here but webber wasnt the sole or even main reason (though he was definitely a big part) we struggled in 05-06...

**that would belong to sam getting paid, then coming in out of shape and not playing well
**that would be billy king not acquiring a pg and us having to start ollie for the majority of the season
**that would be salmons not knowing his role and just trying to score points for a new contract
**that would be iggy not being assertive on offense when the time called for it
**that would be korver being thrust into a starting spot that he wasnt capable of

in honesty, when they got webber, they felt their young talent (iggy, sam, korver, and green) would mature quicker than it did...thats why those teams fell through...i will say webbers elbow jumpers and lack of defense didnt help, but i still think they wouldve made the playoffs with him and possibly win the atlantic if the other things went right...he was not good but he wasnt quite the albatross that we have come to remember him by

First off, Bibby isn't taking any minutes from Childress. Childress gets all his minutes at the 2 and 3. Bibby plays nothing but the 1. Joe Johnson has rarely played the PG spot this year for Atlanta so it's not like he was sliding to PG to play Childress at SG. Bibby's outside shooting ability opens things up more for easier looks by all the guys who you want to get the shots. I really don't think D's feard Acie Law and Anthony Johnson's offensive ability (or lack there of). Baring injury, trading for Bibby will NOT be the reason the don't make the playoffs, but it very well might be the reason they DO make it.

This would have happened with or without Bibby. The Lakers are a solid team, a championship contender, and the Hawks are also-rans who will probably back into the playoffs, just like the Sixers might, in the East.

We also had the worst coach in the history of the NBA. Seriously, name any other coach who's been in the lottery in his past 5 years.

Joe Johnson was happy that this trade happened. Sideline reporter at a Lakers game said he was feeling having to score and create his shot so often and that he was welcoming Bibby to take some of that load off.

How about waiting until the season ends? Nothing is decided yet.

In all seriousness, what does this mean? Who are you talking about? Jim O'Brien?

I guess he means Mo?

Now is not the time to go after Mo considering what he's done with this team. Than again, it's Dedicated and I've come to expect the unexpected from him over the past year or so.
