I think if healthy he's a option. Would you guys trade for him?

If he's healthy, he'd be a perfect fit here.

I would trade just about anyone outside of Young, Iguodala, Dalembert, and possibly Miller to get him.

Miller
Iguodala
Young
Oneal
Dalembert

Perfect??? Forgive me if I don't believe that a 30 year old PF (he'll be 30 before the start of next season) with a troubled injury history is "perfect" for our team.

I have no interest in him here at this point in our rebuilding and his career.

Doesn't he have a hefty contract though, if you didn't trade any of the players mentioned you would probably have to trade the rest of the team to match salaries.

By the way Roletag... how do expect the Sixers to acquire O'Neal from a salary standpoint if we're not trading Miller or Dalembert??

If the price is low enough, I'd consider it despite O'Neal's flaws.

But his super-high salary makes getting a reasonably fair deal done nigh impossible.

O'Neal's remaining salaries look like this...
08-09: $21.3MIL
09-10: $22.9MIL

Age at start of 08-09 season: 30

Games missed in the recent past...
07-08: 20 games out of 53
06-07: 13 games
05-06: 31 games
04-05: 38 games

Again... who wants him?? I just want to take note of who is insane on this message board.

This would be just like C-Webb. Is there a rumor this is referencing or just chat?

Doesnt make sense. He makes too much money and we would have to give up an arm and a leg to get him here. Iv always liked J.O, but its too late now.

we can't get him unless we trade miller or sammy.in that case aquiring jermiane makes no sense.

This is JUST like the C-Webb situation. I imagine the same people that want O'Neal are the same people that hated C-Webb when he was here.

For this sort of thing... I'd like to bring in the President of the United States of America.

OT - GREAT VIDEO...but how about the guy who commented about "at least he's not Muslim"....wow...some people shouldn't be allowed to post comments on Youtube for others to read.

ON TOPIC - If something like JO happened, we'd be scrambling. I think we need to move on from scrambling and commit to improving in a steady way.

Just chat, I saw "Pacers are fielding offers for J.O." so I thought I'd ask what everyone thought. You're right though. I would hate for it to be another CWebb trade.

I think JO, at this stage of his career, is exponentially better than CWebb. First, they're at different ages. When we acquired Chris Webber he was about to turn 33. Jermaine O'Neal just turned 29 this basketball season. Second, very different injuries. bone bruise vs microfracture. Microfracture is a much more career threatening injury than what O'Neal is fighting through. third, even at his athletic peak, Webber was never a defensive player. When healthy Jermaine O'Neal is an all-league caliber defender IMO, just a notch below Duncan and Garnett.

He's a risk worth taking IMO, obviously depending on the price.

I've never liked JO but truth be told, if healthy, a frontcourt of Sam and JO would be very dangerous. JO has the skill-set that Sam lacks. Both have the length to really disrupt in the paint as well. I think they'd compliment one another quite well.

What would we have to give up for him? Obviously Miller would be a trade piece but do the Pacers even want him? I haven't watched a lot [any except when they played the Sixers] of Pacers games but they have Jamaal Tinsley as their point. I think they would probably ask for Dalembert although at this point I dont think I would want to include him in a deal. Who else? Green, Carney, Williams, Smith, Ollie(for contract)?? And theres no way I would want them to give up draft picks.

This may be the only J.O trade Id do: Trade ID #4529517

the only thing i'd trade for JO at this point is Green, Ollie, Carney, and a 2nd for O'Neal and a pair of crutches (he'll need them for about 1/3rd of the season).

actually, i might not include that 2nd. or carney. they're interchangeable.
