Louis Amundson: Still No Playing Time
Update: Amundson has played just once in the past 25 games and played just over a minute in the lone game he saw action in.

Was our early 2nd rd pick(Byers) really that bad that keeping this tird(Louis A) was the lesser of two evils? or was it that Billy King gave guranteed money to Amundson so we had no choice?

hes in Europe schmo..point was that he was taken with an early 2nd rd pick. which in last year's draft was similar to a 1st rd pick in every other draft. Was he that bad of a selection that it was better to keep Louis A, who never plays ever? or could we have possibly sat on Byers this year and let him play in the D- League and practice with the team to make sure he is a dud?

Well, considering that they just let him walk away ... it would be my guess that they decided that he was never going to be anything special AND he may have had an attitude problem (just guessing). Of course, they could be wrong .... it wouldn't be the first mistake the management of an NBA team has made. Time will tell ...

Thanks for the kind words...

To be more specific, he's in France playing for Chorale de Roanne Basket... He signed with them in early February after his German ULEB team, Koln 99ers, went bankrupt... In total, he's played 5 games in Europe (4 in Germany & 1 in France) and hasn't done much to impress... Granted, it often takes american players sometime to adjust to Europe and their style of play...

By bone of contention with the '07 draft was not selected Euro and stashing them overseas (Koppenen and the like)...

Byars looked terrible during the pre-season and so I was/still am all for cutting him. Granted, he was trying to make the team while injured but based on the open practice and the 2 pre-season games I went to... I came away questioning his effort.

- Derrick Byars looked like a man who doesn't belong. He didn't look comfortable when he was on the floor and really didn't show the hustle that others showed. Here's a little example. Mo made the white team run baseline to baseline sprints. The white team consisted of the 5 starters along with Thad and Byars. Mo eventually told the white squad to stop, so all of the players came off. Mo then said that the rookies had to keep running. Thad continued to full out stride up and down the court with ease while Byars kind of drug along. It's small... but it kind of shows a little something.

Neither Byars not Amundson will be in the league this time next year.

I was at that open practice and despite being a supporter of Byars at the time, I couldn't deny that he didn't look like a guy chasing his dream out there. I do believe everyone who made the team was/is more worthy than Byars.

Byars was a late bloomer at Vandy, and he also was a player that we already had like 4guys playing the same position.

you'll probably see him resurface in like 3yrs but still. both Admundson and Byars are small problems--if problems at all.
