Who should be our starting 5?

Does anyone else agree? I feel like Willie Green should be permanently benched. He is useless. Same thing with Kevin Ollie. We should get rid of both of them. This team has potential. A lot more than people previously thought. I think we need Iggy to drive to the basket more. He takes too many jump shots and that just is not going to work. We need more 3 point shooters and people who are willing to drive to the basket regardless if Dwight Howard is in the paint.

what should be and what it will be are completely different things...

personally i like seeing these two lineups out there for some long stretches, the first i can see starting but the second is just a lineup i like not necessarily starting

I, for some reason, don't really find Green that big of a problem. His contract is long but somewhat manageable. He scores in bunches. Green isn't a starter though. He's more a Eddie House type of player who comes off the bench for instant offense. Ollie's expiring contract is more valuable than the player himself but he's a vet and can soak up some minutes here and there. You can't play Andre Miller all the time. I think for a playoff contending team, you'd rather have Ollie play this role rather than a D-leaguer or a rookie.

I'm not a fan of Carney but he should get some minutes if the Sixers want to move him so I would start Carney at SG. If he can bring some energy to the starting 5, that would be nice. Also, his speed does help out. However, first sign of poor play, he'll be replaced by Green.

PF: Young, unfortunately. He's the best the Sixers have.

Pretty much a quick, small ball lineup. I think that's what they're playing right now, with the exception of Carney.

I wouldn't say Green is useless. Hes been playing pretty well actually. Hes shooting 45 percent for the season and over 50 percent the past few games. I agree that he would be better suited off the bench though as he scores in short bursts pretty well.

*Forgot to answer the question. I like the starting 5 we have now.

The current starting line-up is about the best we can hope for this season, with Reggie or Jason Smith starting for Thad when he faces a real bruiser at PF. Green is a nice 8th or 9th man off the bench, but for now he is a less than adequate starter. If Carney could get his shot working I would give him a few starts ahead of Green near the end of the season, but Rodney doesn't look ready yet, or maybe ever.

Leave Williams in his combo guard role off the bench, it plays to his strengths and keeps him from having to guard the better starting SG's. He's just too small to be a starter at the 2. Iverson was an inadequate defender at the 2 despite being much stronger and better built than Williams and Williams cannot score like AI did to make up for it.

Next year slide Iggy to the 2 and start Thad at the 3 and fill the huge void at PF, until then any move you make to fill one hole will create another one.

i think the curretnt starting line-up is the best.of course, lou williams is better than willie green but we need lou of the bench.

WG is good for some 1st quarter offense and is a decent defender. I sort of like how is being used. Give him early minutes to give us some offense, but keep him off the court in the 4th where he has ussually coe up small.

Green also seems to be hitting his spot up three's better- which fills a big need. I think Mo has started to get through to him. As long as he continues to cut down on pull up jumpers and is kept on a short leash he can have his 20-25 mpg and starting spot until we get someone better.

BTW- anyone else notice how as soon as Lou comes to the scorer's table, WG revert to jacking up jumpers knowing he will soon be taken out of the game> Does he think that if he heats up Mo will leave him in thge game and take out Miller intead?
