We have nobody on this team that can shoot the three consistently. I dont know why but for whatever reason the sixers have never had good 3 point shooters. Even back in the days of our 2001 team that went to the finals we outshot AND outrebounded the Lakers yet still ended up losing because we missed way more shots than we attempted. Even if this team makes the playoffs, teams with shooters like Toronto, Orlando, and Detroit will kill us.

Trade deadline's past but Luke Jackson is available. He's a good shooter and a smart basketball player. The problem is that he's not the most athletic, that's why he's been bouncing around from team to team.

A 10 day contract to him could help out this team in the 3 point department.

No doubt we need better shooting (both three's and midrange jumpers) and we knew that would be even a bigger problem after trading KK. That said- I wonder if this could get better over the next few seasons with our current talent.

Three point shooting is one of the skills that can be learned over a few seasons. Look at Raja Bell and Bruce Bowen. they literally taught themselves to be three point shooters over a few seasons.

Shooters with bad form ussually can't defvelop a consistant three point shot, but looking at our roster, we have several players with a good chance to become 35%+ three point shooters in the next 3 years:

In order of likelyhood of becoming a good 3 pt weapon:
Iguodala, Williams, Young, Green, Smith, Carney, Sam

The last two are less likely to ever develop enough to be a consistant threat...

He's shown before in Toronto that he can play in this league. He was a victim of the numbers game in Toronto (Jackson had the same skill set as Delfino and Moon was way more athletic than Jackson). He flopped in Miami but who hasn't this season. At least for season, he can offer some 3 pt shooting to the Sixers.

Unless he takes Willie Green's minutes... not happening since Green has a photo in a safebox of Ed Snider getting down and dirty with a chimpanzee.... I'm not for the addition of Jackson.

I don't think we are that desperate for a shooter... if we were then Giricek would get some run.... and by the way... Luke Jackson's skill set is nothing like Jamaio Moon's.

I wouldn't even play him over Willie (who has actually been shooting well for the last few weeks).

Luke Jackson is a bad NBA player. He needs to go to Europe and NEVER look back...

If the team needs a situational 3-point shooter, they already have Giricek for the remainder of the year.

Giricek is a good 3 pt shooter but he cant be trusted to be on the floor because he is a walking turnover everytime he has to put the ball on the floor. I would still look for someone from the nbdl to help this need. Waive Gordon and pick up a good 3pt shooter from the NBDL for a 10 daqy contract. If he doesnt work out cut him 2. Gordon isnt gonna get any minutes here anyway. We need to look for someone like Josh Davis. Tall, athletic player who can shoot and not Fareskas.

OK, let me explain. Of course his skills is nothing like Moon's but it's exactly like Delfino's and Parker's. So, at the end, it was either go with Moon's athleticism, which, as it turns out, really came in handy, or a player similar to 2 others the Raps had already in Delfino and Parker. So, Jackson was the odd man out.

We had a terrific 3 point shooter but let him go for a pittance. Now his new team Utah has won most of their games with him and are in first place.

I belisve he finished in the top 4 of the best 3 pt shooters at all star weekend a few years ago.

Maybe people forget that he kept one of the other teams playing him chest up with another player and helped spread the floof for us.

I know I am beating a dead horse but I liked him and so did the fans.Go figure. I am ready to get beat up with the pick and money argument.
By the way he also was a hell of a foul shooter which we sorely lack.

I miss him too, but the trade makes sense if you look at the long-term ramifications and ignore the relatively meaningless short term.

Trading Kyle gives the Sixers....

....an extra 5 million dollars in cap space this offseason, which puts them in position to have an outside shot at every available free agent instead of being limited to going after MLE-type players.

....an opportunity to play Thad more, which allowed him to blossom and become a starter. He now looks like he can become a star player in the future.

....an extra future first round pick, which is nice to have even if it's a late pick.

3 pt shooter ?

I thought that decision was made when they traded Korver for cap space.

I liked Korver but I recognize that maybe the need for a very good PF was more important. In any event, that is why the Sixers are not looking for a 3-pt shooter. And who wants a 3 pt shooter you can get on the cheap ??? When would you play him ... when the game is out of reach ?

Who didn't at least like Korver and recognize the value he has in his role? I would love to see him here, but the move made sense based on where the franshise is. If they make no significant moves this off season, then we all should question the move.

On paper, trading KK was good for him and should be good for the Sixers.
