Who would you want to face in the playoffs?

Post#1 » by carlos1223 » Tue Feb 26, 2008 8:06 am

Boston- a great team but they are a team in my opinion we can beat if we can figure out a way to shut down Garnett. I think i would take Boston six games to dispose of us or we might even win, if Iggy drives to the basket more
Detroit-This matchup scares me the most. We will get swept against Detroit. No questions asked. That team is too experienced and too well balanced for us to beat.
Orlando-This is another difficult team. If we try and contain Dwight Howard that opens up Turk for 3 point shots, If we defend the perimeter that opens up Dwight. The magic would probably beat us but I do think it is possible to win this series
Cleveland-Another scary matchup. LeBron James will singlehandedly destroy us. We have nobody who can stop hiim.
Toronto-Chris Bosh is another superstar we have to worry about. This team is full of shooters. I dont see us beating them
Washington-They are very possible to beat once we figure out how to shut down Arenas
New Jersey-Find a way to stop VC and we win

For me, that's easy - Boston.

I think that Detroit would just out-experience us...I think that Orlando would kill us from 3-point range...

Just makin the playoffs will be huge for this team with all the young guys, they will have no one picking them to win so there will be no pressure on them. If they can steal a game or two this season will be a success IMO. Making the playoffs is what they have to concentrate on now.

Looking at the schedule it's probably going to go down to the wire, they probably have the toughest shedule of all the potential 7-8 seeds. How many wins does everyone think will get them in? I've counted another possible 11 wins for the rest of the season which would leave them at 36.

The Celtics are a scary team, but they're not invincable.

The Pistons would simply eat us alive. Period.

That leaves the Magic. They are also a very good team, but they don't have any experience. That makes them beatable.

I don't like our chances agaisnt either team, but I'd definitly rather play the Magic.

We'd be lucky to win a game against Detriot. We might be able to steal a game from Orlando or Boston.

If I had to choose, I'd say Orlando.

It would have to be Orlando since I think we would be demolished by the Pistons and I really don't want to see Boston fans going nuts when they run us over on their homecourt.

********
By the way.... welcome to the board, carlos. It's good to see more of Sixer Nation gathering here.

for me its simple:

I would like to hit the turbo on this teams development and have them play Toronto. realistically they are the only team we can beat to get to the second round.

I realize that this sixers team will have to pull a rabitt out of the preverbial hat to get the #5 seed. But thats who i want to play.

I see no way we beat the Pistons, Celtics, or Magic. Only the magic might give us one game. Celts and Pistons would absolutely destroy us on their warpath to the finals. I really dont want that at all.

I could see Orlando's lack of playoff experience making them vulnerable to our running game. They could get flustered by traps and start going away from Howard. If they keep their cool and feed howard we have no shot against them- but what do you expect in a 3 vs 6 seriers?

I agree with everyone else that Boston and Detroit have too many good vets to allow us to steal more than a game from them. They would force us into half court and make us look really ugly.

im not saying the sixers are the team to do it but i just have a feeling detroit is going to lay a huge egg this year....maybe a 2nd round exit to a team like washington or orlando in dominant fashion...

i know that they r playing great right now and chances are im wrong but its just a gut feeling...

to answer the question, its gotta be orlando or cleveland...we have played cleveland tough over the last few years but now that theyve redevloped their team it might be a different story...orlando i think is an erratic team with potential to win a title if they are hot or potential to be upset if they arent on their game...

I see no way that we are competitive with Boston, Detroit, or Orlando so I see making the playoffs a waste of time. I hope we fall out of the race so we can continue building with good chips. Making the playoffs does nothing for this team but set it back further.

I honestly feel we have a shot against the teams with point guard inconsistency like Orlando and Boston. We would have the edge veteran point guard wise. If we face them, I could live with us allowing rajon or jameer trying to beat us. If those guys get playoff shy running their teams, we have a glimpse of hope.

Bear in mind that Boston are probably on the verge of signing Cassell. Orlando is the only team you guys realistically stand a chance of taking a game off unless you get a much higher seed.

Yeah, I don't want to see us get destroyed by the Pistons again.

Boston

They're a injury to a big three away from the end. Especially in the playoffs.

Rather face BOS than DET.

If Sam has another great playoff, that could be a hell of a series.

Orlando is the best bet out of the top teams.

I agree with many here ... Celtics. They are beatable because #1 ... Garnett is a soft player who likes to shoot jumpshots. Allen likes to shoot 3's. Those are shots that might not go some nights. Pierce is the only player they have with the guts and drive to beat your head in and he would have to be defended well. So ... I do not think they would beat them ... but I would enjoy watching it.
If you cannot convince others that you are right, you probably aren't.
