Do you think Igoudala has the potential to be the better leader of this Sixers team? I think he is way too afraid to drive to the basket and he jacks up too many 3's that we know he cant make. He has a tough time beating his defende off the dribble. Should we look to get rid of him or can all this be improved? He is bigger than Iverson and that is a plus. It giveshim a better chance of being a good defender and rebounder

I think they are about as different as can be. I don't even know where to start comparing them.

One is a HOF with issues, the other is a good but now star player. I wouldn't mind having either on my team. Iverson would be more valuable, but Iguodala is easier to fit into a lineup.

I don't think comparing his offense to Iverson is fair. He doesn't have nearly the handle or natural ability that Iverson had.

Iggy is far from perfect offensively. He does, as mentioned, shoot too many three-pointers for the percentage he makes. However, he ranks 15th in the league in free-throw attempts, so it's not as if he's afraid of some contact and won't play hard.

I think the key with Iggy is putting him in a role where he's not expected to have to carry the team. Adding a Brand or somebody like that is going to do wonders for everybody on the team.

Put in simple terms Iverson is a franchise player. albeit a tragically flawed one, while Iguodala is a high level complimentary player, great all-around game, but not a dominant player. My only problem with Iggy is that he is trying too hard to be "the man". I don't mind the threes as I think he is improving in that area and is slowly becoming a decent outside shooter. With our lack of an inside game even Korver was having trouble getting his three point shot off this year and he has one of the quickest, purest shots in the game. I think Iggy needs to be moved to SG to take advantage of his size, develop a post-game and continue improving his shooting.

I have a major problem with all of the "didn't you see me get fouled ref" whining that Iggy does and don't see him as a leader of a team. Right now he is a little over-exposed trying to play franschise player, but I also think he is a wonderfully talented player who simply needs a more dominant player to play with so that he can play the Pippen role to someone else's Jordan. I think Thad has the proper make-up and talent to eventually be a franchise player and think the Sixers should throw him and Iggy out there for the next ten years at the 3 and the 2 and build the team around them.

My view has generally not been embraced on this one, so I'll bite my tongue, or put mittens on or something. Topic worth objective debate...

Completely different players.

Iverson is a HOF you can build a team around. Iggy is a really good complimentary player you add to help out someone in the mould of say... an Iverson type player.

Iguodala has averaged 2.2 3pt shots a game for his career, and shoots at a 32% clip.

Iverson has averaged 3.9 3pt shots a game for his career and shoots at a 31% clip.

In the last two years (when he's been able to have more touches) Iguodala is averaging a respectable 6.5 FTs a game. Not quite Iverson's 9+ for his career...but pretty damn good for a 4th year non all-star.

Iverson will be a legend years form now. I'm not sure Iggy has the clout to lead too much

That's fine. They both take too many 3's. Showing that Iverson takes more doesn't mean Iggy doesn't take too many.

Iguodala might be a better leader, although I don't think we really know whether Iguodala can be at this point. But I don't think a leader necessarily has to be the best player on the team. I think Iverson's the better top player on a team.

Point, but I think the stat shows that he doesn't take too many 3s. 2 a game for a wing player playing close to 40 mpg isn't a lot.

By my (somewhat haphazard) glance at SG and SF that play major minutes and shoot noticeably less 3s, the list consists of Carmelo, Richard Jefferson, Maggette, G. Hill, Tayshaun, Rip, Monta, and Wade.

Career average is kinda pointless when his role in the offense changed substantially this year. He's averaging 3.6 attempts per game this year. For someone shooting 30%, that's too many.

Hey, I completely understand his 3 attempts. What's growing through his head is "I can make 3pt shots, well, and I'm open". I would know. I think the exact same thing.

If he was chucking up 3s willy nilly then I'd have a problem. But his 3s are usually off a set position, with time and in rhythm.

I'm not gonna fault a guy for that.

I've always loved Igoudola's game, so naturally I would rather have him on my team than Iverson. With all due respect, Iverson just needs the ball to much.

Igoudola is one of the most versatile palyers in the league, IMO. In versatility, he's in the same league as say Lamar Odom or Tayshaun Prince (def not better than Odom, but maybe better than Prince.)
