Starting this as a running thread to discuss games that impact our playoff positioning (a week ago I would have said playoff chances, but feeling confident.)

3/16:
Hawks win, Raps fall again

3/17:
A great night with the Raps, Wiz and Cavs(we can dream) all losing. Bosh comes back Wed against the cHeat, but we are within a game of 5th seed!

3/18: Nets v Bulls- Not as important as it looked a week ago

3/19:
Sixers v Nuggets
Raps v Heat (Bosh supposed to be back- he should rest instead)
Wiz @ Magic
Atl @ NJ
Det @ Clev -if we pick up a game we will be down 3 L and to still play them 3X

I guess now that we are in this position its up to the team to continue to take care of business. One killer week down, another tough week to go.

Cleveland4 38 30 0.559 16.0 6-4 L 1
Toronto5 34 33 0.507 19.5 2-8 L 5
Washington6 33 33 0.500 20.0 6-4 L 1
Philadelphia7 33 34 0.493 20.5 8-2 W 3
Atlanta8 29 38 0.433 24.5 4-6 W 3
New Jersey 28 38 0.424 25.0 3-7 W 2

1 game out of 5th. if we take on the cavs or orlando i have no doubt we can take them. raps and wiz have pretty tough schedules. the wiz have 10 on the road left.

Personally if chris bosh isn't back soon, it's game over for the raps

As much as we long for a better position in the playoff contention we ought to take a look back. NJ and Atlanta have also now a streak going and it's not like we won't face them anymore. If we are in a hole, it might become pretty ugly...

We still play Atlanta in a important home and home in March or April.

I posted this website in one of the game threads but it is very applicable here in the one.

http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NBA/Eastern/Atlantic/76ers.html

As you can see there are still many different scenarios depending on their play but barring a collosal choke job (probably 3-12 in the last 15) the Sixers should definitely be looking forward to the playoffs!

Its nice to see the league somewhat take notice of what we are doing. They were discussing the East playoffs on ESPN Fastbreak last night and there was mutual agreement that the only team outside of the bottom 4 seeds in the East that has a chance to scare some teams and possibly pull an upset is the Sixers.

Also, Philly has moved up to #11 in ESPN's power rankings

i understand how talented the top teams in the East are but i have a hard time seeing them rolling over the Sixers because we play twice as hard as anyone else and we won't just roll over and die. There is a chance we move up to 4 or 5 and if we play Toronto or Cleveland and have home court advantage we will be seeing the second round.

Anyone know when Bosh is supposed to return? The Raps have been terrible without him.

Arguably, he will return on Wednesday.

Nets lose to Bulls. That makes us a full 5 games up on the 9th seeded Nets, with them facing Atl Wed.

Wed night should be a great game to watch the Sixers... and the scoreboard:

Sixers v Nuggets
Raps v Heat (Bosh supposed to be back)
Wiz @ Magic
Atl @ NJ
Det @ Clev

I'm not worried about the 8th seed. Nor am I worried about the Atlanta 'OMFG we're terrible" hawks. My perfect Night:

Magic Beat Wiz: COME ON, enough already. You're a terrible defensive team that shouldn't be in the playoffs.

Detroit beat Cleveland: I want home court against LeBron and his wankies.

I dont want to face Clevaland in the playoffs. With Lebron and the 3 point shooters they have now they will be very tough.

Magic have better 3PT shooters in my opinion and a low post threat with Howard. Yes Lebron is Lebron, but I think they are more beatable.

A Washington loss to Orlando and a Philly win against AI, I mean Denver, puts Philly into the 6th spot.

I'm not sure if Denver losing last night quite handedly to Detroit is good or bad for Philly...It might just light a fire under them but at least Philly will be well rested.

and the Wiz still have a BIG West Coast trip coming up....

I know that I am all over on this, but I'm back to hoping for 6th...I think that we may be able to beat Orlando...and let LeBron take a shot at the Celtics rather than us...
