a signed card for iverson?
Could someone clear this up for me?
I heard something about signing a card (thankyou?) for allen iverson because he is coming back to town for the first time. i think i heard it on 950am. what is this all about? could this town please just get over the dude? i get it... he scored a lot of points for us, but with the young guys on this team that could use this fans support and recent wins over the spurs, and pistons and the major push they are making for a higher playoff seed it seems silly to me to make a big deal out of AI coming back. so what if it is the first time back here... as far as the franchise moving forward, he was traded EONS ago.
what is the deal? what is this thing i heard about, and why cant people let allen go and start supporting the SIXERS?

you have GOT to be kidding me.
i think i just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
if people have that kind of energy and time for social projects, perhaps they could go out and register people to vote in this state as the primary approaches, for example.
this kind of level of fandom is absurd. hopefully it's just one, insane caller and not a movement.

Here is an article that mentions it. Its no big deal just a simple thank you for 10 years of entertainment he provided. You can show appreciation for Iverson and still support the Sixers. Attendance is on the rise and fans are starting to support the team.

I think it tells us something when someone has such a reaction to what is simply a nice gesture -- i.e., that it is he who hasn't gotten over Iverson, not the other way around.

think what you want. i forgot him the day he left. in fact, i was one of his main detractors on this board while he was here, but once he was traded i stopped and refrained from most discussions involving him BECAUSE he was gone.
what im not over is the way people forget all of the problems he had while he was here and the cancer he infested into our coaches, players and franchise... and the very media that reported the problems and admit the turmoil make it a point to applaud his coming back despite the fact that on a daily basis they ignore the team as a whole.

you're right. sports is way more important than wars, health care, the economy, etc.
Yeah bringing the country together not tearing apart like wars for oil, millions without health care and a economy in recession. Smear tactics abound etc.

Do Philly fans have to complain about everything? You can't even thank the guy for putting the sixers back on the map? I think the 3rd ranked scorer in NBA history deserves a thank you, no matter what you think of him. Don't get too cocky now with this sixiers team we have now either, because they haven't taken us to the finals; something Iverson did do. It's not that Philly fans aren't letting him go, it's just that it's the first time he's coming back to a place where he played for TEN years. And you can't even give him a thank you? Way to fit the stereotypical Philly fan mold...

Says the guy who started a rant thread about people signing a friggin appreciation card... You clearly can't raise the holier-than-thou argument here, that would be completely hypocritical.

Why can't you just recognize him for being one of the best atheletes to ever play in this city? You have to take the good with the bad, and for all the bad he brought a lot of good came with it. So stop crying about how he was a bad team player and applaud him for wanting to wear your cities name on his shirt for so long.
